I just couldn't believe it when my wife sent me this article. After all my rants about no one noticing Obama's gaffes, I read someone writing about McCain becoming "senile".
And worse still, some of them have the nerve to gripe about critical coverage of Obama? Where? Not on this planet, that's certain. Even Fox doesn't beat on Oabama, despite being the tool of evil Rupert Murdoch and center of the right wing smear machine.
So, who exactly is smearing Obama?

I was listening to this yestarday and the so called "smears" against Obama. Where are they? Did I miss them? And saying that Fox News is racist.
I am getting really angry about all of this. I am so tired of hearing that if you don't like Obama you are a racist. If you say anything against him, you are a racist. It is getting so out of control.
Obama says what he wants, McCain makes gaffes and he is senile. Okay! That makes sense. Excuse me Mr. 57 states, I don't think so.
It is okay for everyone to smear McCain, that is okay. Why because he is elderly and white? But, once you say something against the second coming, you are a racist.
I do know people that will not vote for Obama because he is black. I am not one of them. I am not voting for him because there is nothing there. Just a guy who speaks well in front of a tele-prompter.
And as for Murdoch, you know he gave money to Hillary and Obama and he stated that the election would be a landslide and Obama would win. Wow, what a racist guy that Murdoch guy is!

I am sick of it as well. The Democrats see everything in terms of race, yet somehow it is the right which is racist. Clinton hired a cabinet to represent the proper racial and sexual percentages, Bush hired the best people, yet Bush had more minorities in important positions than Clinton, yet somehow Clinton is enlightened and Bush a racist Republican.
The one good thing to come out of it is that charges of racism are starting to mean less and less to the average American. After being told everything is a sign of racism, people no longer listen. Unfortunately, that means real racism passes unnoticed as well, since it is hard to tell real charges from hyperbole.

It is getting old. I know that racisim is alive and well in America. Me personally, I never understood it.
It is strange how Clinton is the "enlightened" one and Bush is the racist. Please.
If Obama loses in November, are we going to have an all out race war? Did people not vote for him because there is really nothing there or because we Americans are racist?

A long time ago, relatively speaking, I wrote about the tendency to confuse private racism and government racism. My problem is that it is the purpose of government to stop government racism, but private racism is something for individuals to sort out on their own.
However, many times, those fighting for bigger government blur the line, and use examples of private racism to argue for bigger government involvement. It is a clever ploy, as few draw the distinction. But as I doubt we will ever completely eliminate private racism, it also means we will be "fighting racism" forever, which would lead eventually to an all-powerful state.
Actually, that may make a good post, if work slows down today.

Very good! Yes, it would make a good post. I agree with you on that.
I do see the difference. Thanks for the response!

Well, I just posted another which makes me sound like such a stodgy old man that I almost didn't post it.
But I really am a bit troubled by the cultural trend toward accepting ever more immaturity on the part of adults. So I suppose I AM a stodgy old man, at least in some respects.
And I say that having been a thoroughly immature adult for a big part of my adult life. At least mine was limited to drinking, wasting too much time with friends in bars, and other traditional immaturities, I don't have any facebook or myspace skeletons in my closet.

I have not read the new one yet.
Okay, old man. It is funny so many of my friends have facebook/myspace pages. I got nothing. I don't know, I have not really been into that. Hey, I actually got a cell phone about a year and a half ago. I am not really a big fan of those.
I missed the speech in Berlin by the second coming and I see the magic mystery tour is winding down, but still on! By the way was this speech in German? Since I said that out loud, am I a racist?
By the way did you hear the thing with Major Garrett and Obama discussing how they always seem to have Fox news on in Iraq? I guess they put the channels CNN/MSNBC/Fox on for a half hour, but then they are allowed to change the channel. They prefer Fox news in Iraq. I have to find this. I got this from my mother, so I need to find some facts on this.

I resisted getting a cell phone for a long time. I actually had one assigned by a job for over a year before I had one of my own.
My friends, by and large, are not terribly computer literate, so I haven't seen any with myspace/facebook pages. One friend is an artist, so he has an only display of his art, but that seems to be about the limit of the internet "presence" of my friends.
Years ago, I had some of my short stories on line, as I got sick of having no readers, but geocities got bought out and I never bothered to keep up the site, so it vanished. Other than that, this blog is really my first personal internet site.
I missed the German speech as well, as the little fellow has a new DVD he insisted on watching, though he then ran out of the room, so I ended up watching more of it than he did. I am sure I will see the highlights during the 23 hours a day the networks devote to the adoration of Obama.

Oh the highlights have started or low lights, whichever you feel they are. They are rolling.
I guess I missed that he was running for King of the world! Oops - is that racist?

I think we should agree that anything we say is going to be presumed racist, and simply note when we say something that could possibly be considered non-racist. It will save us time.
Wait, I may be exempt. I just found out that the Cherokee nation, despite what I read elsewhere, does not require any degree of consanguinity with a known Cherokee. So long as I can prove descent from the official rolls, I can become a member. So I may actually be a minority. (Actually, the site I saw said the Cherokees are upset as congress is trying to usurp their right to determine Cherokee membership by passing a law defining who is a Cherokee. Apparently some part-black individuals are claiming racist Cherokees are excluding them and Congress feels the need to punish one minority to help out another...)
Well, Jew is a minority, but it isn't a minority-minority... We don't get to be considered a minority, unless we are complaining about gentiles. Otherwise every group outranks us. Kind of like Asians, though there seems to be a hierarchy of victimhood among Asians.
But my point is I might be a minority, and "native American "(I hate that term) is pretty high on the victim index. I might actually outrank Obama. So I can say whatever I want.
I have to check the rolls of Cherokees before I start, make sure that old family legend isn't a load of bunk. But I could be minority enough to speak my mind.
Then again, I am conservative, so I am probably like Alan Keyes, my minority status doesn't count because of political affiliation.
Then again, part-Cherokee Jewish Republican with a physical disability, I am a minority of one, I think. (Provided those old relatives weren't just making things up. After all, they always told me my great uncle just had lots of gentlemen friends who visited him often... And they glossed over my great grandfather who went out for a loaf of bread and came back years later. So they weren't always completely honest.)

I am with you on the racist thing. I am just going to call it a day with that. We know that anyone who says anything against or negative or does not agree with Obama, the word racist will come up.
It is sad. We can't disagree with him or his stance on issues without being considered a racist.
Have not heard about the Cherokees. Interesting.

by the strict definition of these words, a Native American. I was born in this country and am, therefore, native to this country.
Andrews, I claim you as my blood brother and, therefore, you are also a Native American, if you weren't already.
What does that qualify us for? Anything good?
Hehehe...

I am hoping the family tree matches up with family myth and I am a Cherokee, because then I plan to start lobbying for a reservation and casino right here across the river form Annapolis. After all if a guy who claimed membership in a tribe which may never have existed can do it, I figure I can too. Then again, not a lot of evidence he is even India, so I may be able to do it even without the family tree.
I figure I can also sell tax free cigarettes, and, if those FairTax guys ever get it passed, probably dodge that too and make a killing selling plasma TVs with a 23%/30% discount. (Well, it is possible the Feds will be able to impose the tax on them, that was a contentious issue in past debates, but even if they do, they will need to provide the collection agents, as I doubt the tribes will voluntarily set up sales tax agencies.)
Oh, and I will set up my own tribal courts and demand they try me. Of course, my son and I are the only Cherokees living on my reservation, so I guess I get to be judge. Any crime on tribal land (that means my yard), I get to try it.
Hmmm.... this is sounding better and better. I really need to get that genealogy up to date.

I figure we will spend the next four years hearing all about racism if Obama loses. Every other news story will be about the rise of racism in America.
Of course, probably will be the same if he wins, so I guess we don't have much of a choice there. Any time public opinion goes against President Obama (ugh, that sounds horrible) we will hear how racism is driving public opinion.
So, no escape from the racism charges either way.

Oh, yes
Best of the Web had a hillarious bit today. While talking heads were debating if the press loved Obama too much, Wolf Blitzer interrupted the debate to announce Obama LANDED SAFELY, and then played a sound bite from him. Yes, landing safely was a major news story.
Yet there are those who say the press is not being overly fawning.
Just to check, does anyone have any idea what John McCain did for the past week? If anyone does, I doubt you got your answer from the MSM.
They have no time for McCain, or, as they call him, "that old cranky white guy Obama is going to beat".
