Ah, this is a sore subject for me too.
Another thing, besides how long it took us to get a Constitution, remember that we women didn't have the vote until 1929. The women in Iraq have the right to vote NOW.
My nephew just arrived in Fallujah, Iraq Tuesday a week ago. He's a Marine in Special Ops, is Staff Sargent and has 52 men under him. They are going to be going door to door searching for enemy pockets. Also they are to rescue any military personnel being held hostage.
So, I get really mad when I hear people complain when our best young men and women are fighting over there.
And, doggone it, getting freedom takes time just like you wrote.

Let's see....
We defeated Germany in May of 45, but their first national elections didn't happen until well into the 50s. They still had small pro-Nazi uprisings until the 60s. Japan had pro-Tojo uprisings until the 70s, ending with a final assassination attempt on their PM.

well gee
So how come we haven't finished with Iraq and seen them get a democratic government and settle all the squabbles and get on with their lives??
I guess Bush is to blame. Can't think of anything else that would be holding things up, right???? :-))

They will be blaming Bush for some years [if a Dem gets in]. If McLiberal gets in they will label him as another Bush. What do you think?

I think he is so far from being another Bush that they may have trouble but that won't stop them.
What a miserable election year!!!

Looks like the figures from wil are ok [but hard to read].
With the choice for POTUS on the Republican side I don't think there are nose clips big enough for me to vote for McCain. Not that it would matter much in NY State.
