Comment on: Doug from Eagan

We could all learn something from Mexican illegal aliens

I agree!

I think that it is impressive the amount of hard work coming from the illegals. It makes it really hard to feel antipathy towards people, who happen to be your neighbors in a sense, when you could see yourself making the same decision if it came down to it.

Illegal Immigration

Your comment, Doug, regarding the ability of illegal immigrants being somewhat predicated on, or otherwide dependent upon, government "social programs and emergency rooms" speaks volumes about this country's ability (or rather, its lack thereof) to effectively deal with this issue. The lack of leadership over the past half-century by our government representatives to come to grips with people who should not be in this country is truly a sad reflection of this country's citizens to understand the importance of being a sovereign nation.

I, too, as Julia states in the above post, am impressed with the amount of hard work coming from illegal immigrants. But the reality is that the work that illegal immigrants are doing is by and large not really all that important. I'm not diminishing their work, but the reality is that illegals are for the most part doing many of those unpleasant secondary tasks for which we (Americans) have sufficient resources to pay.

But, that said, what is to be done when the number of illegal immigrants (presently between 11 and 20 million - which is perhaps 7% of the population) increases to around 60 million over the next twenty years (which will perhaps be nearly 20% of the population)? Will we "Americanos" have the "cajones" then to say, "No mas!" when we certainly aren't willing to say no "ahora".

Clarity

I have seen similar, (but none are kicking my butt ;o) ) and I hold some of the same sentiments for those illegals with a positive, honest approach.

Clarity and enforcement of the rules will personally solidify these sentiments and will improve their ability to try and "kick butt" legally. This is what I can be for.
