Christians standing up for Wiccan rights

Wiccans

Personally I'm torn. Everyone has a right to go to hell I guess, but it seems counterproductive for Christians to help people express dead end faiths. Sure freedom of religion belongs to all, but what burned me up a few years ago was all the church groups coming to the aid of the cultist Moon during his government troubles.

I suppose if it was the National Council of Churches or the WCC they're not really Christian anymore anyway, are they?

I see two points worth mentioning here-

1) As Americans, we need to stand with people of other faiths to make sure that our rights our upheld equally. If government agencies are allowed to discriminate against Wiccans today, then why not Baptists or Catholics tomorrow?

Several years ago, there was some discussion here at Fort Bragg by a Catholic chaplain on how to prevent the Wiccan group from holding their 'servies' in the Religious Ed center. They were going to ban ALL religious 'services' in the building until the Catholic women's group pointed out that this would affect not only the Wiccans, but the protestant groups that meet for prayer services and the monthly Mass held at the center.

Sometimes, to ensure OUR religious rights, we have to help make sure the rights of minority religions are also upheld.

2) Standing up for the rights of Wiccans may have the additional affect of having some of them look at Christians in a new light.

And isn't that what it's REALLY about? SHowing them who we are in such a way that they want to know more?
