Change

If in the unfortunate event that Obama wins the economy will suddenly improve. (according to the media) Even if the underlying data doesn't change.
I agree about Alan Colmes, he is making a fool of himself playing the useful idiot.

Obama and welfare reform

Bloefeld wrote: "Today Obama put out an ad in which he claimed to have created welfare reform."

I seriously doubt this. Can you provide a link to the ad?

Us bankrupting itself

Bloefeld: "[Under Obama we would have] the opportunity to see America lose its primacy on the world stage and bankrupt itself to boot"

Well, Bush is alrady doing this. I think you bet on the wrong horse.

obami

First of all...completely agree about Alan Colmes.

The ad was ran last night on O'Reilly Factor and several other shows David. It is currently showing in 18 states.

So Obama is responsible for passing a bill that he voted against and his uncle liberated Auschwitz with the Red Army...

This man is unbelieveable! He can do two contradictory things at once!

Welfare to work

Obama's ad said that he "passed a law that moved people from welfare to work".

Was there a law in Illinois that did this? Yes. It was Illinois's state-level follow-up to the federal law.

How was Obama involved in this law? He co-sponsored it. Can a co-sponsor rightfully claim to have passed a law? I think so.

So Obama did "pass a law" that did "move people from welfare to work". No lies there, as far as I can see. He didn't claim to have invented, initiated, been the first to call for welfare to work. Just pay attention to what he said and ask if he has a right to say it.

Hi David,

David,

I'm glad we have the issue of the existence of the ad behind us.

However, in a federal election is it accurate for him to conflate what he did as a state senator with what happened at the federal level?

He co-sponsored the bill in the Illinois Senate only to comply with the federal legislation or face the loss of federal funds all together.

In fact at the time he said he is said to have told others that he "regretted" having to sign the bill.

It is disingenuous of you to claim that because he did not want to lose free money from the feds that he was somehow a formulator of this legislation. The ad is simply an effort to conflate his acquiescence to the federal legislation with actual support of it.

By the way, again, there is no recession. The economy is much stronger than it really should be as a result of the Democrat agenda of trying to give people who couldn't afford to own homes to own them. That was a dumb thing to try and the greedy idiots who facilitated the ability of bankers to ignore the normal rules of equity requirements that demonstrate the necessary commitment to ownership that they used to have. They should lose their money and we should have nothing to do with saving either them or those who bought homes they did not have the cash-flow to service the debt of.

Cheers,

Bloefeld
