Wow!
I have a question for you and this may sound lame. You said that your union is endorsing Obama. Now when this endorsement comes down, do they ask the union members or is it just the higher ups that make that decision? Just curious. I have never been part of a union. I worked at a private school and we did not have a teachers's union.
As for Obama's plan, too bad that many people will not take the time to understand what his plan really entails and also what his tax plan will really do.

They make a decision at the state level, or should I say, they just go Democratic. I am finding utterances and/or distance from the subject of politics because I think there is a silent majority.
Our district is one of those that is left behind because of demographics and socioeconomic status, but we are not a city. Most of our members live outside the district, so what happens here does not effect their children.

Hmmm...interesting. I had wondered about the unions and how they choose who they support. I thought they would actually talk to the members about it. Thank you for the insight because I had no real clue.
My mom's side of the family were heavy into unions years ago, but now most of them are retired or at other jobs.
Sorry that your district gets left behind. That is terrible. I lived in a city that was very upper middle class. The parents were so tired of 35-40 students that they pooled their money together and built a school. I also had a friend who was an elementary school teacher and she spent so much money on supplies. The district that she taught in had the money, but they kept close to the vest.

Oh, I misunderstood. Sorry.
I think there a lot of whispering going around with conservatives. Sad. They should be able to talk out in the open.
I worked with a lady for years and never knew her political views. First off we never talked about it. But, it was brought up when Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House. I think I cried for days.
I found out that her sister used to date a representative in the district and that they still held fund raisers for him. He of course is a Republican and has actually done some good work in the district.

This is not a done deal. Who is answering these polls? Most of us are at work during the day. What a surprise! What constitues a "likely voter"? Someone that answers the phone?
I thought that since our education association supported BO, then so did my co-workers. I think that I was wrong to assume.
The administration is a different story, but education association members appear to have different views.

Mildred - Very true
I don't really watch the polls because I think they are skewed. I received many telephone calls months ago from Obama pollers. I told them that I was no longer a registered Democrat and that I was not supporting him. I then asked the caller why should I support Obama and they had no clue. But as you say, since I answered the phone, was I supporting Obama?
In my parents neighborhood, I noticed last week that the majority of yards put up McCain/Palin yard signs. Who knew? I didn't. My mom has one in her yard and it has been there for quite awhile.
As for assuming, yes that can be a suprise. We had a budget meeting months ago and everyone was talking about how great Obama was. I was like, wow all these people were are going to vote for him. Wrong - they don't like his tax nor his health care plans. And three were from New York and they did not think that Obama could protect our country.
I no longer work at this company (large corporation). I thought they would support Hillary and Obama. I was very suprised when they announced that Mitt Romney was going to be at a speaking engagement that they sponsored.

Hi, Mildred! Congratulations on your new blog! The health care issue is very important to many Americans and the devil is always in the details. Socialized medicine is NOT the answer. I like health care accounts that you can take to other jobs, etc.
Saw your comments on another blog about Joe the Plumber and Obama`s bashing of him today! Biden, also! Joe just asked a question! They are vilifying him in the MSM. You are right that the mask is slipping off Obama. Joe the Plumber is changing the direction of this campaign. People like All American heroes like Joe and Sarah Palin!

Obama is so superficial. Palin was right, he says one thing to one grooup and disparages you to others. I was so relieved at work today to see that i wasn't alone. There has not been the usual political bending at work. Thank God. I think the locals might be sensing what is coming down the pike.

Very well put together article. You have hit the very points that most Americans need to learn. I am not in a patient care position but I am involved in the medical supplies side. I am in and out of all areas of the hospital trying to help the departments control their inventory spend to help reduce costs that eventually get passed on to the patients. I was speaking with a Doc the other day about NHC and he is the one who made the point that it will not make Americans healthier. He told me that he meets many of his patients for the first time after they have been admitted to the hospital through the ER. Everyone who has health insurance has to put down a Primary Care Physician but he told me that less than 20% of the people who are listed under his practice have ever made an appointment even to just meet him. This plan will just be another bloated Government program that will cost more than it is worth. Unfortunately we have a whole generation of "what's in it for me" people who are not held accountable for the poor choices they have made in life.

That is the problem. Liken the problem to buying a car. We don't all need the same type of vehicle. We should have the same choice with health care. Why would a single person living in a city need an oversized van? People need to tailor their healthcare like do other needs in their life. Why strap the government and taxpayers with the cost of healthcare that is not appropriate for them?

If union members really stop and consider the prospects of an Obama presidency they would vote for the other guy and Obama presidency would also mean NO MORE SECRET UNION BALLOTS.
You are correct. Why should the taxpayers fund abortions?
Health Care costs are high even with Health Insurance and waiting for a doc is getting longer but if we go on a national health care plan the health insurance costs will seem like a bargain and the the conversation will be like this: "I'm sorry Mr. Iam Reallysick, Dr. Heart Surgeon can't see you for 6 months and your bypass surgery is not covered so sorry."

Thanks for stopping by. There were 2 articles on my latest blog from politico.com that not only support this, they go into more detail. they also mention the cost and impact on the economy. Both articles are from commerce and government sources....if democrat could only read and comprehend. OH! But they are the product of public (unionized) education. I went to Catholic school.
