You did miss two other points in McCain's favor.
First, he is much stronger on defense than Obama, not prone to believe that negotiations will solve every problem and not inclined to try to negotiate with terrorists or people who have said they want to destroy the US.
Second, McCain is at least open to moving right on some issues. Not everything, and not all at once, but at least Conservatives in the Republican party might make him move a little to the right. Obama is not moving right at all.
I also think that, despite the fears of many conservatives, a McCain victory will do more harm to the far left wing of the Democrats than to the conservative wing of the Republican party. While everyone is worrying that McCain will move the party left, they fail to notice that should he win, it will be the third straight loss for the left wing of the Democrats.
