Then what is our answer?
Democrats heads are in the right place. But there isn't any "good answer." What would be our best solution here? Stay there a few more years and let thousands more American Soldiers die? And for what? So we can cruise around in our SUVs to get to our NRA meetings? :)

What would you do?
If there isn't any 'good answer' then is there even an answer? If I were President, god forbid, I would push for the surge to complete it's mission first. Then I would wait a few months to see if the reduced levels of troops could maintain the gains we've made. Simultaneously I would be pushing the Iraqi's politically more than has been done.
Overall though, we're always gonna have troops in Iraq. Just like we have troops in Germany, Japan and Korea. But if we could reduce our levels under 50,000 and state that we have stood them down from combat missions to police missions, then I would say that mission accomplished. This alone though would take 2-3 in my opinion.
What would you do?

I would...
I think we've bit off more than we can chew. I think that we should work closely with Iraq's goverment and police force, while exiting our troops. I don't see any feasible way to win this war, unless we plan to take on Iran, Pakistan and other Islamic countries responsible for housing terrorists. Then we would be responsible for a draft as well as World War 3. Which would be especially scary considering Pakistan has nuclear weapons. But now we are just back to the point you made. Which is why Democrats can't/won't bring our troops home.
