Guess I Am An "Extremist"

I Would Like To Address One Item....

Public Schools.

Don't shut them down, abolish the federal department of education. Let the individual states control their own schools. If the possible, upcoming "Conservative Revolution" occurs, then the individual states can "police" their own school systems.

My wife is a public school teacher in the Mississippi Delta. If the State of Mississippi is allowed to "police" its own, we can get the schools back to where they were 40 years ago in a matter of 10 years.

However, the entire "Entitlement" system must also be terminated. (I.e., welfare, food stamps, SSI, Medicade, etc.)

Local control is better than federal control, but many problems would remain. The NEA still has control of many states, and even under states, the bureaucracy would continue to grow, creating unresponsive, top heavy schools. As I argued in another post, government run firms unavoidably develop bureaucratic management.

Local management would be better, I don't doubt that, but ti would eventually develop the same problems, if it didn't start out with them as hold overs when it went from federal to state control.
