Comment on: Random Thoughts From An Idle Mind

I HAD A DREAM

I'm glad I came. Your question is one we should al ask. When we swore never again, we meant it. But the promise of that generation seems so long ago to this generation. When the long war is something exceeding 100 hours, the fear is that we are what our actions say we are, unmoved, untroubled, unconcerned and unengaged. Welcome to the blogosphere old scout. I hope your stay is a long one. And that you raise your voice to joint he chorus who wonder who we are, how we got to where we are, and how to get back to where we want to be.

Watch the CO Levels

Old Scout: I enjoyed your post. I just hope that when your mind is idling, you keep the garage door open. All the best

It makes you...

Like everyone else.

When we see all the open evil going on in the world I've noticed that those who may care about it do either one of two things. We give up and do nothing because we think our blogging and letters to the editor don't get read, or we continue to speak and write against what we see and then we get branded as bigots or freaks.

I've been in both places. Continuing to see those in power ignoring the problems or openly siding with those who do evil generates intense anger and when I take action and see no change or see that I'm ignored then lethargy sets in.

I wish I had the skill to write well enough to be heard by the general public, but I know I don't. We can stand against evil, but it will be long and hard and we may not always be successful. In fact it seems like until we are faced with a clear danger to our daily lives we are content to let knaves and fools govern us.

Some of us see clearly the danger, we must continue speaking and writing against it until enough of our fellow citizens see the truth as well.

Thanks for posting.

The false doctrine of too many choices

"What does that make me" is....it seems so overwhelming...what can I, one person do, in the face of such a large problem? Purpose. Have purpose. Decide that in this one place, in this one way, I will not tolerate the status quo of "_____".

It is not too many choices or too big a problem. All that evil needs to flourish is that good men do nothing. It does not say "All that evil needs to flourish is that good men fail to get a large enough group of like-minded people together and build an organization costing millions to do something."

Purpose. What is your purpose?

Mark Steyn would say, "An American"

His book, America Alone, makes the point over and over that Europe has gone too far down the road to socialism, multiculturalism and negative population growth to survive as European any longer. He expects that Muslim majorities will occur in all members of the EU except for those who haven't invited multitudes of Turks, Arabs and Persians into their countries.

America is headed in the same direction, but we still have a chance to turn back. We're balanced on a knife's edge between the UN-EU sympathizers who want us to surrender sovereignty to international bodies and American patriots who think it is our duty to preserve our ideals and spread them to others who yearn to be free. The next few years will be critical.

A Tiny Quibble

If "The leader of my own faith visits a Muslim country..." refers to Pope Benedict, then you are in error. Benedict has spoken out on many occasions regarding the persecution of minority religions in Muslim lands, including at his meeting in Turkey with the President of that country's Religious Affairs Directorate. However, I agree with your overarching theme. We must each speak up and speak out, act up and act out our Gospel calling. Times will get more interesting before they get dull and boring.

good question

You sound like a decent American who is overwhelmed by the tidal wave of problems that face all of us who are of the same mindset. Nice blog- keep it up.
By the way, I agree with Deadpan's analysis: The next decade or so will be critical to the survival of this Great Rebublic as we know it, and it makes me worry about the future that lies ahead for my little 3-year-old.

Never Again

Based on the examples provided in the original piece, I believe the writer is more focused in his intent than most of the responders. I am persuaded he specifically is bothered by the Jewish question and his personal response or lack thereof to it. He has a dread of another holocaust or genocide action being directed at Israel and his dream indicates complacency by the world leaders and the general population of the Democracies. Additionally, his own apathy consumes him.
This question is complex to the point of bewilderment to some--and disinterest to others. The American press is guilty of basting the citizens of this country with a masterful "mop" of Jewish oppression (throughout history) and "we the people" being predominantly Christian are only too eager to be sympathetic. That is fine. We are the people that persuaded the world to create Israel, we are the people that rescued the Jews from the death camps, we are the people that have the cleanest hands on this planet for fair treatment of the Jews, we are the people that have provided the Nation of Israel protection and the means of protection since formation, yet our view of the Jews may be the most distorted.
The Jews provided the birthplace for Communism (Marx). No other political ideology has ever killed so many people in such a short period of time. Jews embraced Communism and attempted to aid in its spread throughout the world, every country in Europe was affected. Every country in Europe, many in Asia, and even some in the Southern tier of Africa are keenly aware of the Jewish involvement in the attempt to spread that ideology. Communist by ideology are secularist; we have many Communist here in our country and many of those are Radical Jews. The secularist would applaud the abolishment of Christianity in this country and Jews can often be seen in the forefront of legal efforts to stifle its free practice in our traditional way.
Anti-Semitism (too general and too broad a label to be accurate) is deep rooted in Europe, parts of Asia , and all of Islam to expect it to vanish. The Jews need to make some amends themselves and stop trying to convince the world they are being persecuted because of their religion--overwhelmingly it is politics that cause their problem. Their religion makes them easy to identify.
Israel can take care of themselves, if they are alert; Israel has over 400 nuclear weapons and I know they will use them to insure their survival. That is one more thing they can thank the US for.
