and....
It's pretty scary that the things we learned in school are no longer taught. I was always taught "respect your elders" or about not raising a hand to anyone, unless...My mother was a single parent, but would have no BS from her kids and we were scared shi*less to disappoint her in any way.
It seems to me that many parents are lax because it's too much work.

I am getting ready to move to Chicago. I see that is where you grew up...Was work what made you leave Illinois? Just curious.

Bill Ayers guides policy
This terrorist baffoon has a say in how we teach our children.
"A fundamental choice and challenge for teachers, then, is this: to acquiesce to the machinery of control, or to take a stand with our students in a search for meaning and a journey of transformation. To teach obedience and conformity, or to teach its polar opposite: initiative and imagination, curiosity and questioning, the capacity to name the world, to identify the obstacles to your full humanity, and the courage to act upon whatever the known demands. A pedagogy of questioning can begin to open those doors." Billy "the bomber" Ayers on his blog, april 2008, archive
Implied is that "we, our traditions, morals, institutions, etc." are obstacles to the "full humanity" of the future anarchists he's manufacturing. God help us all.

p.s.
Who knew that a women's restroom at the pentagon could be an obstacle to the "full humanity" of a spoiled white kid from a Chicago suburb?
