How Much to Buy YOUR Vote?

I get your point and agree

However, the problem i had when I read "Republic" was that it seemed that the "Philosopher Kings" were considered infallible, and were not accountable to anyone. I think our system, as designed, adjusted this properly, giving oversight though not complete veto power, to the populace. Under the system of Republic, you end up with an oligarchy of the intelligensia running everything unrestrained. Of course, under true democracy, you get the "Tyranny of the Majority" that De Toqueville feared. I think that as long as we have a free and diverse press (no contrived fairness doctrine) and a significant segment of the population who educate themselves, the system that our Founders set up is optimal.

Thank you for the kind words
