I learned about Irena Sendler while I was stationed in Germany. She was one of a few that spoke during the Auschwitz anniversary, and though her words were few, they were felt by all.

Sadly, this hero, this wonderful example of the beauty of human nature, was passed over by the Noble Peace Prize committee, who favored Al Gore. In the spirit of Irena, I hope the committee lives long, and remembers their stupidity for a long time.

Not only did he not deserve it, but the act of granting him one cheapens the award.
