I Am An American Part 1

Your Son Sounds Intelligent for his Age

And CF you have correctly described the purpose of the federal, state, and local governments. By standing "behind" your son and watching, you performed the duties of the local police, the FBI, and the military (plus a few more agencies).

It is sad that so many Americans do not understand the freedoms they have and the power available to them by "standing tall". Your son, at his early age, does. Keep up the training; it looks like another "sheepdog" is starting to grow up.

Good Analogy

I taught me daughters from early childhood that they and they alone were responsible for their own actions and decisions.

Responsibility is sorely missing in America at seemingly every level.

Your son was also showing Dad that he could be responsible - appreciate that aspect and encourage it.

Good Thoughts Curtal!

What a fabulous affirmation on self-reliance!!

I had a similar experience, back when eldest was about four years old. She wanted to redeem some tickets she had won at the arcade. I was about to tell her what to get, when she told me she could do it by herself.

I, too, stood behind her, far enough back that she felt independent, but close enough to intervene if necessary. Of course, being a mom, I burst into tears on Hubby's shoulder when we got home. My baby was growing up....

BTW, I loooooove DQ!!! Mmmmmmm......blizzards!!

LOL Sometimes I think my son is too smart and I'm gonna be in trouble when he's a teenager. Hopefully, the morals and beliefs and common sense I work to teach him will set down roots and grow strong.

My wife is a really fast thinker, and is extremely good at multi-tasking to an insane degree.

I am more clever than my wife and have a more powerful imagination.

My son seems to have acquired both my wife's and my mental attributes, and is starting to look like he beats each of us at our individual talents.

So, yeah, we're gonna be in trouble.....lol

Great analogy! Sounds like you have a conservative in the making. We won't have a generation that doesn't need entitlements. Jesus told us that the poor will always be with us. That and liberals raise their kids to hate and despise conservatives. You missed another example that you taught your son...how to be a responsible parent! Believe me he filed that little memo away.

As a parent you experiencing the pangs that go with it. I have been in your situation and have done the same thing. Better safe than sorry.

It is a shame of what rampant liberalism in our culture and courts have done to this country. Due to crime you cannot turn your back on your child even for one minute.

And society has the complete and utter gall to wonder why people purchase video games and computers and lock their children in the home. Kids are fat today because they cannot go outside and be kids. Don't get me started on the medication problem especially with boys.

P.S. Curtal

Yep I have one of those brainiac children and yep your gonna be in trouble!!!!

However I wouldn't change one thing. The journey has been worth it.

I like reading your aticles and post

very well thought out and clear to understand. There are several things we need to do to change this country back, and education is key. Keep up the good fight.

Great illustration pitting liberal views against conservative. And it's so easy to understand!

You are correct in saying the only way to get people off entitlements is to rasie a generation that doesn't need them.Teach a little self reliance.Let your kids do it themselves(it's tough to fight the urge to help).Good essay...

Good job

My oldest daughter (now 7) is getting more independent, but where I have the hardest time is with the 4 yr old. She thinks she's as big as(and often thinks she's bigger than) her older sister.

I got them the book "Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed!" for Christmas.

It's tough to let them go, but I will have to remember your post. It teaches them independence and the conservative way...

My only child is now 34 and a pediatric oncologist. It has to be one of the most saddening, heart wrenching fields in all of medicine. I asked her a few years ago why she chose that as her specialty. She said simply, "Because I want to make them hurt less by being their friend and doctor. I'm all some of them have."

My kid, what a gem. I cry now at the memory and the pride.

We are not only raising a group of Americans who don't need handouts, they don't WANT them either, as they have no value to them. They do not want what they do not earn. Basic responsibility, inherited.
