What a downer of a speech. What an arrogant idiot we have in the whitehouse. Surely he can't believe that his spewed rhetoric would offer encouragement to graduates. He just likes the sound of his own voice. Pompous A$$!!!

Excellent post!
You called it, hubris is the defining quality of the one.
Unfortunately, most of those in the audience (and this country) don't possess the critical thinking skills that you do, and they probably buy into the swill this crapweasel is selling.

HMMM! Let’s see now, did the Sail Eared Simpleton GIVE his books away or did he SELL them for a PROFIT! Of course Weezie went from a PRIVATE sector job at $2500.00 a week to a SERVICE job at $7000.00 a week.
This guy is the equivalent of putting Pink Antifreeze in Pink Lemonade on a HOT Summer Day. It looks VERY good and is VERY tempting, but enough of it will KILL you.

HYPOCRISY, thy name is OBAMA
Obama and family were living above their means for years before the income of his book bailed them out. Accoring to an article I just read, they were spending an average of $80,000 per year above their income from 1999 through 2004. If not for his book, he and Michelle would be upside down on a condo and up to their ears in debt. Why didn't he choose to remain as a "community organizer," no doubt a laudable career? Why does he dissuade graduates from entering the job market with ambitions to make big money - after all, who else will fund his massive spending? Community organizers? Mentors?
Here's a link to that article:

Svengali
We by now know that the Messiah is also Svegali. His hope and change baloney was to brainwash the mushy 'yutes' of America. It has worked. Here in Az. and surely at Notre Dame, Svengali is using words of wishy washy compromise to divide and conquer Catholics and others for the vote in 2010. We shall see if he has succeeded with Az. pupils on free enterprise necessities and on abortion at Notre Dame. If he can peel votes away from the Pubs on any of these two issues, he will slaughter the Pubs in 2012. We will have to watch 2010 carefully to see if the so called silent majority comes out in force to drive out the socialist pacifist Dems in House elections. Drop by my friends. BIBI is in DC!

The last three words are at the core of this ... person's Presidential foundation. Take your eyes off your own obligations, family responsibilities, etc and give to the "world."
If this doesn't send chills down everyone's spine, I don't know what will.
This is an excellent analysis, Saltwater. And thanx for posting it!

Well done, Saltwater! You cannot imagine how much I agree with everything you have published here! Both prezbo and flmo both gave major downers of speeches to the graduates. Hers was unnecessarily harsh. She slammed the U of Chitown! Of course, the new grads have INHERITED TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN DEBT in the last four months! Don`t get it, can`t understand it and will never come to accept the absolute hold these two, especially him, have on the world/country/society. They say the bigger they are .... I pray our nation does not fall to the guilt of paying reparations that are on the horizon. Peggy the Moocher was soothsaying ....

Georgetwin, anti-freeze in lemonade
is an excellent analogy. Years ago we had a sicko poisoning neighborhood pets by setting out pools of anti-freeze. The sweet taste hid its lethality and the animals lapped it up without caution - much as so many swallow what Obama has to say without thought because he sounds good.

Garnet, that is the magic
of Obama's economic philosophy. No one needs to generate wealth. Everyone gets an equal share (OK, maybe some shares will be more equal than others), but it the good intentions that count. Where will the funds come from? Obama believes he can get all he needs - just open up that goose and take those golden eggs.
That's why I concluded by quoting President Eisenhower.

Mrs. AL, those three words
do send chills down the spine, but so do the three words I highlighted from the speech - "poverty of ambition" - which indicate his loathing for anyone who doesn't follow his philosophy.
Even more telling was that phrase wasn't part of the "official" prepared text. POTOTUS wandered of script and said what is in his heart - just like the slip up with Joe the Plumber when he talked openly about "spreading the wealth."
Every now and then, Obama screws up and speaks the unvarnished truth about where he stands. Now, if only people would listen.

There is a certain irony in the fact that the man described "Poverty of Ambition" with an exact description of the tactics his campaign used to get him elected. "Paucity of Integrity" is what I would call it.
