Sotomayor: Cost Irrelevant When Guppies' Lives At Stake

Worse Than Usual

I am a liberal, a Democrat, and an Obama voter. I do not blog. I read and post on townhall because it's a well-run site and I find it interesting. After four years I have never seen on townhall such a feeding frenzy of hate as has been produced today re Sotomayor. In columns and posts she is called racist, better suited to be a household servant, stupid, incompetent, corrupt, unqualified, and crap, to name just a few epithets. People whose posts indicate their lack of education (can't spell, punctuate, compose a sentence, organize a paragraph, do not comprehend basic facts about US government or history) now see themselves as experts in case and Constitutional law. Posters ridicule Sotomayor's name (it is a common Spanish surname). One columnist, Malkin, ridicules Obama's (correct) pronunciation of "Puerto Rico". Townhallers take the racist position that no minority person could possibly have gotten into a good school, won honors, gotten a good job, or been elected or appointed to high office, except for Affirmative Action.

I wonder if it has occurred to any of these Republicans that Hispanics now constitute the largest minority group, one that is growing fast, and that THEY VOTE.
