Democrat talking points...
are non-existent. They have expended a vast amount of energy and time trying to creat hate and discredit for Bush that they have forgotten to bring up anything substantial about issues prior to the elections.
Who else but the New York Slimes or Washington Post to publish articles on secret or leaked information with no substantiation?
Love your blog,
Grampus

Washington ComPost...you and Grampus are funny! I love it...:)
You are right, sadly, patriotism doesn't seem to be much of a priority in the democrat party.
Great points! Thanks for stopping by!:)

These leaks are threatning our safety. They are done with the hopes of winning an election, but at what cost?
Will we be able to trust them if they do get elected, heaven forbid!

Phase II report
I have yet to finish reading the Phase II report (and it promises to be the same turgid prose as that found in the 9/11 commission report), but thus far, a great deal of the report appears to be redacted. Who knows what has been cleaned out of it.
Check out
http://thomasjoscelyn.blogspot.com/
for commentary on the flaws in the report. Flaws arising not from partisanship or a conspiracy, but from outright laziness and a lack of intellectual curiousity (and ignorance). Stephen Hayes has a good bit in the current Weekly Standard, also

Leaks
As to the deeper issue of leaking classified reports (and classified intelligence programs), I hate to belabor the obvious, but notice the difference between media reaction to Valarie Plame and media reaction to actual leaks, that actually harm the U.S.
It is a pathetic devotion to the status quo.

As to your second comment...very good point..."difference between media reaction to the Valerie Plame leak"...ufortunately the MSM seems to only be interested in hurting the Bush administration...and getting their buddies on the Left back in power. Drives me nuts!

One more thought
It looks like the dems are going to be exposed again, as usual after jumping on the bandwagon with the MSM with this leak...
President Bush and President Karzai of Aphganistan in their joint press conference really put the press on the spot...and Bush will now declassify the entire document, so the public can see the whole picture...
So as usual the dems are going to look like the America haters they are.

Well, to me...
... the more salient issue is that "leaking" has gotten out of hand. Ever since Woodward and Bernstein, every petty mid-level beaucrat in Washington considers himself the next Deep Throat, no doubt being portrayed in the movies by Brad Pitt, or at least Kevin Bacon.
In my youth I was an Amry Intelligence agent, cleared to Top Secret. As part of the process of granting a clearance, one signs a document acknowledging that any revelation of official secrets subjects that person to prosecution, imprisonment, fines, and possibly death (I'm not kidding). I'm sure that at least that part of the process remains intact.
Why are there no prosecutions of these leakers? They can certainly be identified; I know, I've done it myself when I worked in CI (counterintelligence).
The New York Treason can be brought before a Grand Jury and be forced to identify sources when national security is at stake. Why isn't the administration doing this? Further, there are CI methods that could be used internally to accomplish the same ends. Why aren't these being done? And if they are, why isn't anyone being prosecuted?

Well, obviously...
... I wasn't an "Amry" intelligence agent. Sounds like multi-level marketing to me.
That should be "Army". I think the censor program scrambled it, as I proofread before posting.

You nailed it...I don't understand why we don't go after these people. This isn't a game.
There have to be others like you with experience in these matters that are scratching their heads, and wondering the same thing...where are the prosecutions in these cases, of leakers and the Rags that publish the classified intell?
Points well made! Thanks for checking in! Always good to hear your perspective!:)

As to your comment posted 6:02: I can assure you that you still sign a document (after sitting through a security powerpoint). And that after filling out reams of forms (they're slowly becoming computerized: I've filled out the EPSQ, the SF-86a, and the new computer verson and they're basically the same bleeding thing).
I'm sure you have fond memories of the TS background investigation. Since the OPM has absorbed the DSS the BIs have gotten dam* ugly (or so I'm told).

Burn My Britches
The thing that really gets me hot is the way the dems try and turn this into an excuse to leave Iraq. One of the most significantly documented fact of the Terrorists is that they have viewed our tendancy to cut and run as a sign of a profound weakness in our society. SHould we leave Iraq we would be proving Bin Laden to be a prophet. You want to talk about encouraging the enemy.

Does the phrase "weak horse" not mean anything to Dhimmicrats?
If they think our being in Iraq is a terrorist recruiting tool, they're going to be very disappointed when they learn that our leaving is a far greater terrorist recruiting tool.
People tend to be attracted to strength; our leaving would demonstrate the strength of the terrorists, whereas, by staying, we can demonstrate strength and resolve (it'd be nice if we accomplished something while we were at it).

Same old story
Now that I have read the declassified report I have to wonder how many others will. My bet is the lemmings will stick to what they heard from talking heads and modern media outlets. The report itself negates what was said prior to its release. However, ignorance is bliss. Whereas the report, in my opinion, justifies our actions and our sustained action the Kumbaya crowd will ignore it. Truth doesn't matter.

We have to make sure the "yellow" party doesn't gain controll again, and we must prosecute the leakers of classified materials to the full extent of the law!

Something should have
been done about this long ago. It is absolutely inexcusable that classified intelligence documents get leaked to the press, the Democrats, or anybody else. Who is doing the leaking? There can't possibly be that many people privy to this information - so why is doing the leaking? I don't even care why they are doing it. All I care about is that they are stopped.
Why hasn't the Bush Administration done some house cleaning? Someone inside the administration is working to undercut national security and put America at risk. They should be tried for treason and hanged.

It's a no win situation it seems. Bush handles things so well, I don't know how he keeps so calm with the constant attacks and endagering of our country by those who seem to not care about our national security.
Good points! Thanks for that!:)
