Reagan Forsaken

Reagan

heretohelp doesn't get it and has no problem using force on another. First of all, Reagan only slowed the growth of spending. For example, instead of Congress getting a $10 million increase for an agency, it only got $5 million, so Reagan and his pals slowed the growth by $5 million. The only one who has always voted against taxes is Congressman Ron Paul from Texas. He's the real deal: anti-war, anti-tax, anti-empire. The ultimate question is: In a civilized society, should anyone or any government ever force anyone to do anything against their will as long as that individual does not infringe upon the life, liberty, or property of another? The answer is no, since, we live in a civilized society, we realize force is immoral. The Republicrats, as I call them, built the warfare/welfare state. They are equally guilty.

Reagan

booboolane's right about #1-5. More interventionist u.s. govt. policy - always leads to disasters. Just like Kennedy and Johnson, a couple of dems, accelerating the Vienam war, which killed over 50,000 Americans, not just a few hundred in Grenada and Lebanon. But#10? Broke the working man across the board? Like to see some stats to back that up. #12 should be cut anyway. What's the govt. doing in the family planning business?

AuLiprofessor,
It's difficult to see how Reagan, who fought for strengthening and expanding the military as well as using it, and the anti-war Ron Paul could have anything in common. Democracy was freely adopted by Iraq and Afghanistan so, I fail to see why you see anti-war in the original posting. Lastly, Reagan argued that tax cuts expand revenue and can pay down the debt and save social security if there are tight spending controls.
booboolane,
You commit several booboos. How could freeing Grenada from anti-freedom communist suppression be a farce or a bad thing? How could sending troops to Lebanon to bring stability to it, even if such wasn't accomplished, be a bad thing. Arming Iran and Iraq kept the balance of power in the region so, one has to wonder why that's a bad thing. How can supporting the contras against anti-freedom communist suppression be a bad thing. Reagan's immigration policy wasn't flawed, the misimplementation by underlings was the problem. The Democrats created deficit spending and controlled the purse strings throughout much of his presidency so, blame them for those debts. The mergers, etc., are just doing business. Whether Reagan's anti-drug efforts were phony or not is subjective and differs from person to person. Not letting the environment stand in the way of jobs and economic progress isn't a bad thing. And shooting wolves in other than helicopters is a good thing? The air traffic controllers broke the law by striking so, their union deserved to be busted. We need more drug testing not less. Family planning is a euphemism for murder and infanticide. His Oscars belie your third rate comment. These are my comments.
