Mormons don't vote based on religion. They vote based on shared values. Its nice to have someone in a campaign you can relate to but it isn't the deciding factor in all cases. You can see Utah and Idaho's history of voting Republican as testimony of that fact. Democrat Mormons usually don't make it.

In Nevada, 75% of all Romney's votes came from non-Mormons. So the headline grabbing fable of Mormons deciding the victor is pure gobbledygook. It works for Romney's political enemies and the intellectually weak media.
