How does PBS keep getting away with this?!?!

It seems those who want to blame America always do what you are describing. When we fight true evil, they find something we did that was a bit bad, somewhat questionable and equate it to true evil.

We feared a Japanese fifth column, not that unreasonable in a war being fought by racial/nationalist enemies, and so we engaged in the effective, if somewhat too broad, detention of Japanese citizens. (Somehow they forget the Italians who were similarly restricted and sometimes detained.) It is horrifying to some modern eyes, and was probably an overreaction, but it not a massive sin and during wartime hardly merits the hand wringing and copious tears the left constantly shed over it.

Yet, the left compares it to the literal genocide (and worse) of the Nazis. And completely glosses over the human experimentation and attempted genocide of the Japanese in Machuria.

It is absurd. Then again, they are trying to do it again, comparing Christian fundamentalists to Islamic terrorists, as well as trying to make our invasion of Iraq into a "terrorist act" comparable to 9/11, so nothing new there either.
