Some members of the Russian government would love to return to a time that Russia (or the Soviet Union) was feared and the positions/policies/opinions from Russian leaders actually mattered to the rest of the world. People like Putin probably don't care about making Russia stronger economically. Rather, Putin's primary goal is probably to make Russia a "big player" in world politics again.

I do agreee, my concerns are his fellow travelers here in the Secular Progressive Communist Democrats controled Congress and as well their leader Obama.

Yeah, I hear you, and I have the same concerns. I am just not convinced that Obama is their "leader" though. So far, I see him much more as a figurehead. Someone that the left selected to be their "face," who basically has little or no record so that the left had a "blank slate" to mold into whatever they want. Just my two cents.

To be further molded more likely, his molding as a Muslim in his early years in Indochina and a Communist as a youth in Hawaii by his card carrying mentor, and great friendship with his neighbor a Convicted Homegrown Terrorist is what worries me from the "Get Go".
