Russel Crowe! I am fonder of foreign acters, generally, because I think they get better training than American actors.

Oh...you and I are definitely on the same page. The two are a couple of generations apart, but still, they manage to charm me and excite me more than the majority of American actors, especially now. I'm afraid the American cinema is sadly bereft of true actors. Crowe -- as I mentioned -- has the movie star looks outside, but is a true actor. Flynn, although known as a matinee idol, did have talent.

But nowadays, I don't know. While 60 and 70 years ago you had the likes of not only Flynn and Olivier, but Bogart, Gable, Cooper, Cagney and others, now you think of some of the better movies and it seems the stars are foreigners. You have Russell. You have Christian Bale. There's Daniel Day-Lewis. For hit or miss you have Eric Bana and Hugh Jackman. LA Confidential had not only Crowe, but Aussie Guy Pearce (future star of Memento). How about Chow Yun Fat? Anthony Hopkins? Oooo...Gerard Butler! I haven't even mentioned the women: Helen Mirren, Cate Blanchett....

I sometimes wonder what those Aussies and Kiwis are putting in the water! LOL
