30 Things that Liberals believe in

Best list I have ever seen!

Awesome work Rich! Copywrite it and send it some online mags! Get published!

Of course the libs will denounce everything you said but then I am reminded of the title of the new Anne Coulter book "If liberals had any brains they'd be republicans"!

Keep up the good work! Your site puts the Kongalton Kooks to shame!

Bless you for your service to our country. Be well and stay safe!
Jerry

what rite kooks think like (pt 1)

1)God loves you, and shares your deep seated hatred of homosexuals
2)Guns don't kill people, people kill people, which is wrong, unless you're killing someone who killed someone, which is right, unless you kill the wrong person, but if they're in prison they probably deserved it anyway
3)If something is written in the Bible, it is allowed no interpretation, because it was written by God. That's why we still cut off hands, stone people to death, and treat women as property
4)Permanent one-party rule might not be such a bad thing.
5)Undermining Americans' faith in the news media would provide all sorts of positive benefits for our society and democracy.
6)The most appropriate and courageous response to the threat of terrorism is to allow yourself to become consumed with total and abject terror.
7)The best way to protect freedom is to limit it.
8)The best way to ensure we always have plenty of oil is to use as much of it as possible and hope for the best.
9)Of all the rights guaranteed by the Constitution, the only ones that are actually important are continued unfettered access to guns and the right to express bigotry.
10)When deciding cases, judges should consider the perceived will of a majority of voters.

what rite kooks think like (pt2)

11)Art should not challenge people's beliefs or be very difficult to understand but, rather, it should be uplifting, uncomplicated and reflect the values of a majority of people -- or at least mine.
12)The government should not collect taxes for any reason, except to give the money to religious groups, wealthy corporations and people who want to send their children to private schools without paying for it.
13)Freedom of speech goes both ways, which means that I have the right to stifle the voices of people with whom I disagree or just don't like.
14)The government should charge someone with treason as soon as possible.

The government should play a larger role in the personal decisions of Americans, except for things like protecting the environment and educating children, in which case it should play no role at all.

Cynically exploiting religious beliefs for political gain is perfectly acceptable.

People in other countries should literally live free or die.

We should grant the executive branch almost unlimited power -- unless the president is a Democrat, in which case we should watch him vigilantly.

Thanks for showing... I guess

Typical liberal overreaction in order to distract from the truth.

To paraphrase the Bard: Me doth think you protest too much.

Sucks for you when your ilk are subject to a spot-on critique, don't it? Lashing out at conservatives with your own non sequiturs in your scattered list only serves to make you look foolish. Your responses are only tangentally related to my list of 30 things Liberals believe. If you disagreed with them, try answering them the way I answered the "Elvis" character on Dave's blog. My advice is: get your own blog and post your own list there if I ruffled your feathers.

But thanks for posting all the same.

alas, poor rich from paso, I knew him

what truth exactly am I distracting from? Your version? I thought your original post was somewhat humorous - I mean you were trying to be funny, right? Thats all I was trying to do - inject a little humor. I think you'd find that I'm a lot more conservative in most areas than you think. Here's a question for you Rich - are people capable of being shades of gray, or is it all black and white to you? And Rich, just fyi, when you find that the only person agreeing with you is jerry dagna, well, whats the Twain quote, 'I would never join a club which would allow someone like me as a member'?

There he goes again

What does a post less than 24 hours old have to do with when or if Jerry posts on it? Thought this was a free country and Jerry can post wherever and whenever he wants... just like you. All you Jerry haters just don't realize you are playing into his game. As for your response, it had the feel of a "I know you are but what am I?" schoolyard response. Feeling the 'humor' from you? Not so much. I was being witty with my list while cutting liberals to the quick. You just sounded too snarky to be taken seriously. Sorry, just the way you came across to me.

re: 30 things

Rich,
I think it's very disingenuous for you to claim to know what liberals think when you yourself are a conservative. I'm a liberal, as are many of my friends, and none of us believe these things in your list as you portray them.
It's frustrating to read your "black or white" style of argument. I'm not saying you're wrong; indeed, you back up most of your arguments with sources. Just as there are many different degrees of Republicans and conservatives, there are different shades of liberalism.
(to be continued)

re: 30 things

You said on Congalton's blog, in response to Elvis, "It's obvious you can't tell the difference between the mythical 'neocon' and a regular Conservative."
Well, it's obvious you can't tell the difference between a Marxist and an American liberal. Do you think our bookshelves are filled with the writings of Marx and Lenin? Trust me, they are not.
Our views of the opposing parties are colored by our own politics. And this is one main reason why I believe the two-party system of government is, or already has, failed us. I'm a liberal, but I seldom mark the "Democrat" box when registering to vote because I don't feel they accurately represent my political viewpoints. I'm an Independent.
Having recently read biographies of Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, both of them were utterly opposed to the formation of national parties, fearing the inevitable "he said, she said" kind of debating. And these two men were the main architects of our Constitution, the two men responsible for the principles upon which our country is founded. Modern day events have proven their fears of a two-party system true.
Perhaps we could discuss this on a separate blog entry. It might engender discussion of what is wrong with our country without resorting to the same tired "all conservatives are just out for themselves and their own profits" and "all liberals are card-carrying socialists" arguments. I don't think that kind of rhetoric gets us anywhere. What do you think?
Glad to be involved in a reasonable discussion,

God and Conservatives hate Homosexuals

Hey Rob, the truth is God loves you to and does not hate Homosexuals but hates the sins they commit. You liberals have a hard time understanding the simple concept that Christians believe they must hate the sin but love the sinner. With regards to your comments regarding cutting off hands, stoning of people and the degradation of women it is a segment of the Islamic extremist who believe they must hate and persecute both the sinner and the sin. I hope this helps you feel better about Christians and conservatives.
