Comment on: Reformation Man

What Religious Faith?

our fault?

Are you saying the condition of the country is our fault?

No matter how you look at it…

We could blame the schools, but to whom is the school accountable?

We could blame the churches, but who makes up the churches?

We could blame the government, but who votes them into power?

But if it is our doing, then we can also begin to undo it.

how?

What do you propose as a solution for a culture in love with socialism rather than liberty?

Engage the enemy...

If socialism is a perversion of Reformed Christianity, which brought us Capitalism based on the work ethic that the fruits of a man’s labor is his property and of value, then a recovery of Biblical doctrine is necessary to stand against it.

Christians are to interface with the culture as salt and light realizing that they are engaged in spiritual warfare. They should expect to be persecuted when they do. But we have precious promises. [Matthew 5]

God is able to bring deliverance, but we are committed in the fight whether He does or not.

I Have Always Believed

The United States of America was given to us by God that it is an annointed and blessed land and a shinning light for the oppressed and hopeless.

The evidence of this is many. The mere foundation of this country is a miracle. Our country though born in trials and tribulation, sin and repentance failure and growth is still One Nation Under God. Lately I have been troubled, has my light been under a bushel, have I sinned and not obeyed? Therefore I am humbled to remember what God has raised up He can surely bring down in an instant. I am humbled to remember God's Blessings and that I must take responsibility for my own actions and thoughts by confessing and repenting, by accepting forgiveness, prayer, fasting and walking in faith. I a sinner saved by God's Grace through Faith cannot stand in accusation of anyone but in God's Grace through my imperfect faith in the Ressurecting Power of Jesus Christ I have been saved. How much even more grace will God give those who have heard and accepted Jesus.

Thank you for visiting and for taking time to comment.

The great promise of the gospel is that grace is greater than our sin, and the Shepherd of our soul has promised that nothing will separate us from His love. He ever lives to intercede for us pleading the merits of His righteousness imputed to us by faith.

What shall I render to the LORD
For all His benefits toward me?
I will take up the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the LORD. [Psalm 116:12-13]

Thank You

I needed to read that. Prayers are always appreciated.

ValientForTruth

I for onw am sure thankful that Grace is greater than our sin... I needed that remonder! thanks

Our faith as a nation

was its driving force. I believe it once was understood, now, it is very much in question. "Separation of church and state" is the leading mantra and has been so polluted from the way Jefferson intended the term to the Danbury Baptists.

And you are right, we can win it back, but we must learn to fight. We must learn to positively influence those around us, and we must be aware of what the laws actually are. Of course, when we engage we must engage as Christians ought, but that does not mean we are to be too nice about it...

Again, it is a great encouragement to hear from you. Usually when someone is challenged in their thinking that's the last I hear from them. For what it is worth, I think much of you for you remind me of someone I used to know; a young man hungry for truth who spent much time on his knees with open Bible pleading with the Lord from the prayers of the apostle in Ephesians 1 & 3 and from the Psalms.

The intent of the article is that there are no political solutions to our spiritual problem. The New Covenant does not promise us political liberty and prosperity. We are promised deliverance from our spiritual slavery. Sin shall no longer be our master. We have a new principle called grace that empowers us to resist and struggle against sin when before we were at peace with it and embraced it.

Other great promises are given in Matthew 6:33 and Ephesians 3:20. If enough Christians are pursuing the kingdom, then ‘all these things shall be added’ and overflow into the secular world where unbelievers also enjoy the benefits of liberty. In my opinion that is the explanation for the anomaly called America.

It is evident that political liberty cannot be maintained without this spiritual foundation. It is conservative folly to neglect the spiritual heritage that produced the Constitution.

The spiritual foundation of which I speak is very specific. It is based on the sovereignty of God over all things, a right view of man’s depravity in sin and an understanding of the grace of God in Christ. The majority of churches today called Protestant are apostate in that they have departed from the apostolic doctrine on these things.

Where is the church?

You first call the RCC apostate and now the Protestants. So VfT, tell us where is the true church?

True church…

The true church is where it has always been; that is, gathered around the preaching of the apostolic doctrine…

'And with many other words [Peter] testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Then those who gladly received his word were baptized…and they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers' [Acts 2:40-47].

I agree

Spiritual freedom is separate from political freedom. True political freedom, though, is found in spiritual freedom.

All that said, I tend to agree with your opinions regarding a united Christian front and a political entities survival. Now, this does not guarantee our (Christians) livelihood but rather our survival. A big difference.

A sermon given by my current (former, not sure which now) pastor gave said that God spares places where believers exist. Looking at the Biblical narrative, this plays out. But survival and comfort are two different things.

As to my being challenged. I enjoy it. Since my family left I had not felt very close to God until going to two (needed) services yesterday. Coming here and contributing didn't seem right without my heart in the right place.

Lord’s Day worship…

Gathered around the Word of God among the people of God joined together in the grace of God is necessary encouragement for the health of our souls. I know what you mean, but consider that when you belong to Christ you are accepted in Him whether you feel like it or not.

I know

But I did not feel worthy of contibuting without God near. I know he always is, but I needed to be reminded of that.

The two services were great, one was by the man who put us through marriage counseling and was about being the salt of the earth and the other by a former worship leader and current student at Dallas TS about being a fully devoted follower. The former was also a communion service and the latter focused on the story of Mary and Martha at Simon the Leper's.

MBC is a huge place, but it is an alive place. I think it is growing in numbers because it has stayed true to the Bible. Unlike many others, it has not forsaken the truth to accomodate everyone. As such, it is a place that has facilitated my growth more than any other church. But I think I also needed to go there to be reminded that God is in me regardless of what church I am at, or whether or not I am with the ones I love.

If you haven't noticed, I rely on them for a lot. I have felt lost since they left a week ago, and I needn't be.

Vdad…

Dear brother, you mean they left for a short visit, and you are longing for them to return, right?

Valiant

We are moving to Wyoming, they left last week after the movers left Monday afternoon.

I am staying behind to clean up the house and finish out my duties at work.

They are not returning, rather I am following them out west this weekend.

Take care…

Thanks much for the clarification. I had gone over to your FaithMatters blog and my heart began to sink as I read your Alone poem.

Thanks valiant

I am re-energized now, and look very much forward to seeing them again. It took me until last night to realize I have not been alone, and will never be alone.

The poem is therapy somehow, verbalizing what I have felt. God played a role in that and I put it in my faithmatters blog because God is always with me, even when I am not with him.

There's true comfort in that, and it is truly an awesome thought!

And before I know it I'll see my family again.
