Arafat refused a 99% solution (that left the remaining 1% up for later negotiation) in 2000, instead launching the second intifada.

"Resolution" of the "palestinian problem" won't create "peace in the middle east". Too many people have a vested interest in the status quo. Arafat required the "conflict" to maintain power and his opulent lifestyle; his successors require the same.

I've been saying for months that Sen (now Pres-elect) Obama has a child's view of foreign policy. This is but one more demonstration of that observation.
