Another Democratic Push for the Military Draft

There are a couple of reasons proffered by different people for why Rangel is again proposing this. One is that he is incensed by the disproportionate representation of minorities in the present military [even though this is a volunteer force, and everybody in it has chosen to be so]. This is an interesting argument, because once upon a time Blacks were upset because they weren't ADEQUATELY represented in the armed forces. Guess we just can't get that number right.

More likely, the true reason he is doing this is twofold- first to scare American parents into opposing the war, and to get Republicans to vote against it, and then say that if you support the war, you have to vote for a draft [something he has already announced] or you are a hypocrite. As usual with Liberals, it all comes down to hyprocrisy and cynicism, and hopefully the American people will recognize it as such.

is imputing his cowardice on the rest of America. The good Lord willing, he's wrong.
