Roger, what do you mean when you say the christian martyers had a chioce?

Some Christians who are pacifists, for example, may say, "God is all-powerful. He doesn't need us to fight." They are right, but they can only choose to die for themselves. The martyrs did, and they died. Daniel made the same choice, and God protected him. God was still God in both cases.
Our government is charged with protecting us. We have the duty to protect the weak. Some so-called peace advocates, those who seem to advocate simply laying down arms, don't seem to recognize the many in the world whose oppressors will destroy them unless someone more powerful stops them. Having invested myself in tutoring Sudanese refugees, for example, I can never quite forgive myself for being oblivious to the millions who have died, lost their homes and families, and still suffer today despite decades of genocide.
