the war
It seems to me that the Dems are not the only ones not supporting the president and his war policies. It seems that those who do support him and his war policies are a dwindling minority.
Perhaps we should stop talking about parties and start talking about how we are going to work together to get out of this mess.

Out of the mess
I am sure you mean you want all parties to work together to succeed to the point to leave something for the Iraqis to build upon, not just "get out of this mess" like we did in Vietnam.

And another thing....
I may not be so happy with the way the "war" is going, but I wish the Dems would be honest.
I hear them saying we have been there longer than WWII. How is that possible. We are still in Germany, Japan, etc. keeping the peace.
The surge is good. Even better if we set up a checkpoint Charlie between Iraq and Iran, and another with Syria.
We must control the borders over there....OOPS, ouch--don't even say it. I guess I painted myself into a corner on that one, but two wrongs don't make a right.

the war
You're the one who said "like Viet Nam" which is what the president doesn't want anyone to say. Don't say 'escalation' because everyone will think Nam, say 'surge' instead.
Just like Viet Nam, we shouldn't have gone in the first place, we have created an incredible mess, and there is no good way out.
You also said it - we are still in Germany and Japan. I don't think you will find many Americans of any party that want us to be in Iraq 50 years from now.
Worse than Viet Nam - we are more unsafe now that we were before we went to war. Terrorists hate us more now and are even more interested in hurting us than we were before. This war has not done anything to help Americans.

Just like Vietnam
Do you think we were wrong to abandon Vietnam? Do you regret what happened afterward in Cambodia?
How can terrorists hate us more and are even more interested in hurting us now, than they were before they flew airliners into buildings??
How do you quantify your statement, "we are more unsafe now" What happened that I missed?
When you say "there is no good way out", do you mean there is no good way to quit or no easy way to win of no quick way to finish what we started?

iraq war
We all need to lookpast our nose! Take a deep breath, clear your mind, lean back & relax. If you are truly attemping to relax, some things should change. Muscle tension should ease, your shoulders should drop noticably. Tighness in your arms, hands, back, legs, neck should ease. Just think about relaxing and clearing your mind. Get ready for a new or some new thoughs.
OK ... - George W as presidents go is dumb as a post and an arroant S.O.B. Short of Florida's election officals giving him the Presidency in 2000, he had accomplished little in his life. Yea, he was Gov of Tex. Do a little reading about how he found his way into that job. It's not me, read his bio. He had no clue what to do with the Presidency. And them boom 9/11. Lots of "really hard" tedious work was looming on the domestic front (S.S. health care, energy, campaign reform, corp. & political ethics etc.) It's a no brainer war is easy. And what the hell nobody you know is going. So he fudged the intell and got us in. And he's a no good S.O.B. for it. The trouble is, Islam is a nasty business. Again it's not me, read about it. Check out what Winston Churchill had to say about Islam over a hundred years ago. Bottom line . . George W needs, we need to clean this mess up. And it's going to take more, many more American troops. 20,000 ain't going to do it. Closer to 300,000 total will be needed. The Iraqis need all the things we have to make their country work. Electricity, jobs, safe streets to get to those jobs and back home. Peace of mind to know you and your family are safe, no one will come in the night with guns. Don't you understand we can't leave until the Iraqis have some of what we have. I don't understand the people in the middle east. No I just don't! But they did not ask for us! Remember this! As heard as it is to stay, we've got to live with what comes behind our leaving. Remember Vietnam 1975? U.S. choppers over the U.S. Embassy in Saigon lifting our people out. The Vietnamese struggling to get aboard and being pushed off by our Marines. Some clung on then lost hold and fell to their deaths. They knew. You better know they knew what was coming next. How you like to be an Iraqi living in Iraq after we quit?
