His time

His time and His will. Both difficult to wait for, both very important to remain in.

Hagar though, she was an Egyptian and would have most likely gained all of her religous views from Abram and Sarah. Reverting to an Egyptian 'do as your mast or mistress says' would have been very natural. And also Ishmael had a part to play.

enjoyed the post a lot.

Welcome, Gar!

Hagar was pregnant at this time, so Ishmael would not have had a say one way or another. However, it certainly sounds like she was on her way back to Egypt when something (the Bible says God spoke to her) stopped her, made her turn around and go back to Sarai and Abram. I checked with a friend of mine who ran away from her husband when she was pregnant (he was abusive). She was headed home also and she didn't go back. I asked her what could have induced her to do so and she said "Well, what induced me four years later to do just that ... God spoke to me." Things worked out for her; her husband had been sober about four years by that time and was ready to be a husband and father. God spoke to my friend through several Biblical passages, this one concerning Hagar among them.
