What Rep. Stark said

Newt on this
I get Newts weekly article that I look forward too. The subject of your blog post is very similar. The thing that was striking and I can't find confirmation of the numbers is that Congressman Starks is an 18 term congressman. At this point the man has no regard for the his constituency, he knows he has a sizable retirement and probably will die in office. We need term limits in the worst way to get rid of these entrenched career politicians. It may or may not be unconstitutional according to the Supreme Court but in this case I will take the expediency over the pure letter of the constitution, it is just better for the country. I don’t think it is something that our founding fathers thought as a potential problem. At the time government service paid very little and it was out of patriotic spirit that a person served.
Let me know if someone comments on this blog barrym@tds.net so I can check back.

Well he apologized
Well Rep Stark apologized. And I am going to write him back. Not that it does any good but i have time on my hands. He did apologize and since I wrote him then I should write him back. Still it was a rotten thing to say.

Tinsldr2,
I got this today from my congressman John Mica. I sent the same day that this d/a made his rant. I guess with all the emails they get they are backed up. At least he answers you and has the correct topic that you asked about. The 2 senators send back things that have nothing to do with what you asked. This jerk Stark also voted to allow Ramadan as a legal holiday but voted against Christmas as one. He is a real jewel.
"Thank you for contacting me regarding the inappropriate comments of Democratic Representative Pete Stark concerning Iraq and the President. It was good to hear from you, and I am pleased to have this opportunity to respond".
"As you know, on October 23, 2007 Rep. Stark said on the floor of the House of Representatives, “You don’t have the money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people, if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blow off for the President’s amusement.”
"Like you, I believe this statement was completely inappropriate. Some of my colleagues and I voted to censure Rep. Stark for his comments on October 23rd. While we were unsuccessful in passing the censure, please know that I will keep your comments and Rep. Stark’s statement in mind as Congress continues".
I guess the republicans in the House have not finished with him.
