With my dad about how this all dates back to either Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton.

Carter screwed over Iran and badly. I have been reading up pretty intently lately on what has happened in Iran since the Carter administration and it is terrifying. He opened the door that long ago for Ahmadinejad to take command.

Bush Big Government

Bush is the possibly the worst President on record. Clinton left with a surplus of money. The Bush Big Government agenda was put in place by 6 years of having Republicans run both houses in Congress.
