Is Health Care A Right, Privilege, Or Barometer?

Read some History

Do You understand there is a Process laid out and agreed to for Running our government, which limits its decision making power?

Do you understand that the Unitied States is not a Democracy? It is a Constitutional Republic based on Democratic Principles.

Do you understand that decisons made outside of that process or excercising powers not granted by the people are Illegitimate because they weren't approved by the people?

Do you understand that A "Right" as defined in that process is a restriction on the powers of Government that prevent it from ursurping the powers of the individual?

Do you understand and that Proclaiming a "right" to any material commodity is the SAME THING as declaring a right to use government force enslave others for the prupose of providing that commodity?

Do you know what the "Right of Conscience" is?

Do we value people more by preserving thier inalienable rights, includig the Right of Conscience, or when the government violates the inalienable rights of its citizens by dictate how much we must "value people"?

Do we want a "Moral" or a Free Society

Do you have any understanding of Capitalism at all? Read any economics book by Thomas Sowell. The only way you are "left behind" in capitalism is if you are UNABLE PROVIDE VALUE WORTH SOMETHING TO ANYONE ELSE. People who provide a lot of value to others, get a lot of money in return. Ever look at the average number of hours worked in the Lowest Quintile? Their average Ages and skill levels? Is there a reason they earn less?

Who is more greedy? the person who earned what they have through honest work or the person who demands they be given the benefits others worked for at the point of a gun?

Rather than using voluntary charity, you suggest we should take care of our poor by using the force of government to violate the inalienable rights of individual citizens and make them indentured servants and entitle others to the fruits of their labor thorugh forced confiscation. What does the use of Government owned slaves say about the "morality" of a society?

Is there any responsibility on the part of the needy to not be in that state in the first place? Is it moral to be purposefully be a burden on others, and to refuse to act in a way that would allow you to stand on your own? Or does having a need entitle them to the forceful use of another's abilities?

Should one Class decide its morality and what it values is better and impose it by force on everyone else?

It sounds, Curt, from what you say

that the discussion was among the ignorant and the naive. Weisshaupt is spot on.

drpete

only those who were not there would come to your conclusion.

Weisshaupt

And who is in more denial than the person who says he has gained everything solely by the works of his hands, which is only true for the person running a self-sustaining enterprise consisting of himself as its sole employee and has dealings with no other business or group and is located on an island?

There is an apt scripture verse for this from James 5:1-6:

"Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. Behold, the wages of the labrers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. You have condemned and murered the righteous person. He does not resist you."

Answer the Questions

Or are you afriad of the answers?

Familiar with the 1st Amendment? Your Scripture is meaningless to me. You are not allowed to force you morals or religion on people via the State.

You are the one grabbing the gold and silver from the workers by Fraud. You are trying to take from those who work and can provide value to one another ( no island about it) and give it to those who have no equal value to trade.

MAN WILL EAT ONLY BY THE SWEAT OF HIS OWN BROW.

You seem to think confusing contexts and manipulating the meaning of words to confuse them is clever. Its not. Its just stupid. ( I think you will also find your Bible says such rhetorical labors are the work of the Devil)

Show me in the Bible where Jesus said to collect taxes for the Church? Show me where he told people to go forth, beat people up , and bring the money to him so he could do good works.

Here is what Jesus said:

You note that the Innkeeper wasn't forced at gun point to take care of the injured man for Free because he had the ability to do so. Jesus was talking about a PERSONAL CHRISTIAN RESPONSIBLITY. A responsibility you want to shirk by making the "Community do it for you" Yes, you have done your good deed - you went and robbed those evil rich people who got rich THROUGH VOLUNTARY TRANSACTIONS, with thier customers AND their workers. It is you who are grabbing what is not yours by force and indulging yourself in the luxury of thinking yourself a righteous person.

I am not Believer, but if there is a Christian God who believes in the Teachings of Jesus, you are going to find yourself in trouble come Judgement Day. If I remember Stealing is always wrong, even if you do it in a good cause.

Again

No one gets rich solely by the works of their owns hands. That is because we live in an interdependent society. You can reject the Scriptures all you want, but in the end, what we sow is what we shall reap and what goes around, comes around. ANd if we get rich by defrauding others, forever will we have live lives of watching our backs.

Anyway, thank you for making my point.
