Don

Paul taught that the preferred pastor would be the husband of one wife. And I've never seen anything in Christ's teaching condoning polygamy.
What do you consider to be Biblical Marriage?

My church, the Primitive Baptists or Hardshells, considers anything other than a monogamous, faithful marriage between a man and a woman as un-Godly, but we do not persecute sinners but love them as Christ does.

The Bible says it,
That does it,
I believe it.

I Kow You JEST! But...

all joking aside.

I am learning in my research of legal brothels in Nevada that the practitioners are convinced that the majority of their customers truly long for a loving wife and a monogamous home.

Most of their patrons are "long distance" truckers. The women describe them as "the most sane, civilized and gentle" beings.

One 40 plus blondie said: "If I had met one of these guys 20 years ago, I'd be the happiest woman in the world now with a great husband, five kids, a home, a church and fudge cookies baking around the clock."

Apparently, the more "erotically" unhinged the U.S becomes, the more the real men are gravitating back to the Christian concept of sexual mores. Of more interest to me professionally is the possibility that they are valuntarily swimming upstream to accomplish this. "Upstream" means against the riptide of church and university oriented "free sex" advocates. Of course, this merchandised sex business sex is anything but "free."

Contemporary thought and entertainment media, including "news" and the religion business, would lose billions if this natural reversal of Hedonism is sustained as a trend.

In the brothel bar at Shari's, one patron told me that his only "feeling" as he returns to the freeway is "a gnawing sadness."

I wish your joke had a punch line.

Paul did not forbid polygamy to

Paul never taught that the preferred pastor would be the husband of one wife but if he did that would have meant that he acknowledged the rest of the congregation could be polygamists.

The fact is, Paul gave an exemption to polygamists from serving as Elders, Bishops, and Deacons because those were not paid offices, nobody wanted them, and if they were so great then Paul would not have felt it necessary to talk up those offices in 1 Timothy 3:1

It is only the western taboo against polygamy that causes men to read 1 Timothy 3:2 as a prohibition and not an exemption. The Bible gives an exemption from serving in such positions for men who have taken a new wife, i.e., a second, third etc. wife. Pauls command was consistent with that prior exemption.

Deuteronomy 24:5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
