You cannot be that incurious. While progressives have criticized right wing radio (and justifiably so for spreading misinformation) NOBODY in Congress or in the Obama administration has EVER suggested anything that would censor it. Obama and Pelosi are both on the record in opposition to a restoration of the Fairness Doctrine.

The is a very pragmatic reason. Today's action on Limbaugh could be tomorrow's action on the Huffington Post in 7 1/2 years.

Furthermore, none of this has anything to do with hate crimes which, under current and pending law, require an act of violence. Speech is not violence.

I write a very contentious blog (on the left) and I am the last person in the world that would want expression constrained and most progressives are similarly disposed.
