The Presidency of George W. Bush - Privilege of a Lifetime

one of the problems I have

with some conservatives is that they, on a practical level, equate their political conservative principles with the absolute values from the scriptures. As a result, the same conservatives seek scapegoats when under their rule and the application of their principles, there is collapse as there is now.

Regarding the housing market, Bush was taking as much credit as he could for the number of home ownerships before the bubble busted. Then after the bust, we hear that Bush tried to avert a disaster he foresaw.

There were plenty of warnings about our economy from the left as they pointed out that fighting a war for the sake of contractors benefited only a few while making financially vulnerable the rest.

The real problem with the housing bubble was not the defaulted mortgages, which only accounted for a small percentage, it was the devaluation of properties on good mortgages that limited the amount of money financial institutions could make available for credit. And all of that came about because of deregulation that allowed speculation to run wild.

8 years of bush has left the biggest mess an new president has ever faced. World terrorism significantly increased after the invasion of Iraq as well as recruits for terrorist organizations. We have less standing, more enemies, and a more vulnerable nation because of a devastated economy. In the meantime, the investor class has waged economic war on the rest of America.

Keep up

the good work Doug. I hope that the rantings of caday only serve to prove how hopeless he is in his position. His beloved liberal Congress tanks the economy (which under Republicans continually made progress) yet the poor professor blames Bush. Talk about a case of CRIS and BDS. Hopefully the prof is happy with his Marxist "dear leader", aka the prophet of Baal and Barack Hussein Obama.

Flame

Considering that the economy was tanked by the policies of the Republicans in addition to the facts that neither Obama is a Marxist nor was he my choice for President, shows some serious flaws in your logic.

Prof

While I agree that the President was a Republican, the Congress (both houses) were controlled by Democrats and their policies which led to the decline in the economy over the last two years.

Now we have the same ludicrous policies coming from both the Legislative and Executive branches. You should feel good that your Marxist candidates have taken control of 2/3 of the government.

FLame

The economy was tanked before the bailouts. Congress does deserve some credit for the deregulation policies they followed.
