This whole country is a lawless frontier. Women and children are raped and beaten in every small town and large city in the U.S. I grew up in Memphis and worked downtown for 15 years and never had a problem. I moved east to a small town in Tennessee - I wasn't there a week, and my house was burglarized. That same week, 2 houses on the next block were burglarized. The criminals were never caught. About a year ago in this small town, a man was shot to death in his apartment and his body was partially burned.
The crime remains unsolved. My point is - crime is everywhere, especially where you least expect it.

Oh, and I agree, those animals, if proven guilty beyound a doubt, DNA evidence and all, need to be shot. And I won't shed a tear. I don't care if their Dad walked out on them, or their Mom beat them, or some uncle raped them - there is no excuse. Just take them out and shoot them and be done with it.
