What is "educated"?

Simple answer:

If you have to ask, then you ain't.

I don't agree with the 1st comment

This is always a good question to ask!
And there should be many different answers to the question.

Willingham

Good to know he has a book, I've been reading his articles in one of those
union magazines, you know the unions who don't care about education
and children just what they can get for their members:

I'm glad my post let you know about a good book. That's part of why I wrote it.

I'm not sure where the snarky comment about unions fit in. While I'm hostile to unions, I didn't say anything about it in this post. My comments about unions in other posts have been quite specific.

If you have a concern with something I've said about unions, you might tell me what it is. This sort of generic comment is beneath you.

just a general TH comment

not directed at you per se, but most THers.

As you can see Wilingham's outlet for his research is AFT's American Educator, see more here:

Some science articles there too.

Thanks for taking the time to explain and for the links.

Just for anyone else who is reading this: Willingham appears in a diverse set of publications that range the gamut of views. He is a scientist, not an ideologue. His was some of the more objective and specific education advice I've read.

You all should have seen the book I tossed aside yesterday!
