Its Almost THAT Day!

Hey, off with their heads. Love the picture!

I was thinking of Halloweens from yester year. Going out to all hours of the night. I remember stepping into peoples houses and not being afraid of being kidnapped or never to be seen or heard from again.

Times have changed. Now we Senator Government and Senator Gaffe meister posing as a Presidential nominee and a VP candidate.

skep and sue

halloween from fester year.

ah, the march of time! better get on board with buckley and yell stop...

The good old days...

Mayhem in the streets, that's the stuff Halloween is made of. I've got neighbors that decorate for Halloween almost as much as for Christmas.

The new trend here is for van loads of children to be bussed into the more affluent neighborhoods where the treats are better.

I think it is more likely that Halloween, with it's demonic nature, will be morphed into a secular replacement for Christmas.

as it stands right now

mccain could still win this election.

the media cheerleading alone is not going to pull this off, and it may even rebound against the left. i may be wrong, but i don't think this is going to be bob dole.

every vote might really count. the left-wing media should remind every one of us that sexism in america is still alive and well.

if she disagrees with you, she... is still a "she."

Bittersweet the Memories of Yester-Year

Taking your younger sister trick-or-treating.

Taking 3 weeks to make a sign for the local court house so it reads "Whore" House and because the background color of the sign matched the color of the stone, the sign was not noticed for 2 days.

Dressing up as "monsters" and jumping out of the shadows to scare the young trick-or-treaters (And getting your picture in the local newspaper).

High School Costume Dances for Halloween.("They did the mash. They did the monster mash. They did the mash. It was a graveyard smash.")

The world was so much simpler in the late 1950's and 1960's. And safer.

Those stories of the old days of Halloween really brought back memories!! but mine go back to the 40s!!
Remember candy with no fear of razors or poisons>>
and kids travelling in packs but no parents!
and there was no real damage done ...just mischief.

I have been hibernating as some of you know but I got steamed enough to post a short one on my blog.

Emjayne!

I wondered where you were! I was thinking it might have been something I said. Being a conservative these days is like being in Minas Tirith while the Nazgul and their army are approaching.

Its amazing how much things have changed. We were lucky to have been kids then. In fact Boomers have had a better time than any other generation in history. From the fifties until now have been one long age of freedom and prosperity. That's about to change.

BG

I still think McCain IS going to win but I wonder how much difference it would make. We've gotten so into the election 'contest' that we've forgotten that 'our guy' is a worse lib than Bush.

Sarge

Halloween isn't a replacement for Christmas. Christmas has been utterly destroyed by TV turning it into a giant orgy of purchasing. Quiet reflection is 'ownlife' and can lead to 'thoughtcrime'.

Sue

"Senator Government and Senator Gaffe"
Yeah.

early seventies for me

We ran around after dark (gasp!) right up to strangers's doors. Of course we were afraid of the spooky houses and Old Mr. or Mrs. So and So cause everyone knew they were crazy. Some of the folks gave us apples, bless their hearts, which we promptly threw at various targets as soon as they closed the door. Razor blades and poison were a huge concern - I know because Dad went through our candy taste-testing the good stuff just in case;)

spooky houses

right, well, that may be the white house really soon.

a country cursed

by it's school systems. Willfully shaping minds to the Left. New post up, skep, stop by....

BG

"...may be the white house..."
With the BEST we can hope for McLame its going to be scary. There's no doubt about it.

Dave

The Obama Administration will administer some hard lessons on the nature of planned economies.

My parents took their cut of the swag but I had two brothers and we usually got more candy than anyone could eat. we walked miles and stayed out for hours.

As we got older, my mom always said she had to watch the door to give out candy. We would roam the streets for hours, but he we were usually home by 10:00. We had no worries of not coming home.

We went through the big thing years ago in CA where you would take your kids to the mall for trick or treating, so they would feel safe.
