NETANYAHU'S SPEECH, ANWAR SADAT AND MAKING PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST

So Sadat asked for peace where

Egypt was allowed to dominate? Isn't that what Netanyahu is asking for? Netanyahu wants all of Jerusalem and wants a demilitarized Palestinian state while there are no restraints on Israel? I would think that those who cling to the 2nd amendment would at least sympathize with the Palestinians.

How about some objectivity here? What state would allow itself to be demilitarized while living next to a neighbor that continues to steal its land except a conquered country?

I am for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. But that kind of subjugation of the Palestinians and dominance for the Israelis will not bring peace. It is not realistic. And it is not worthy of comparing with the money for deal struck with Sadat and Begin.

At what point in history have the Palestinians ever been a state, nation, country, etc? They haven't. Ever.

What real state would allow itself to be surrounded or even have a common border with an organization seeking its destruction?

Israel is not "stealing" anything from the Palestinians. They have never owned anything. To be accurate, it is Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and other Arab states that have declined to take in or provide anything for the Palestinians. How about some objectivity here. Take into account the size of Israel versus the size of any of the Arab states I mentioned above. Who has the most to offer the Palestinians? Who has the moral duty to care for and appease fellow Arabs?

The only possibility for peace is the Arab nations recognizing, sincerely, Israel's sovereignty and right to exist, and the cessation of all aggression toward Israel. Just ask the Israeli Palestinians what their view is.

Do some research and admit to the facts. You won't appear so ignorant and misguided.

If the Palistinians can't accept Netanyahu's terms for a Palestinian state then they will have to continue to live in destitution and despair. What keeps them at war with Israel is the belief that they will win. Once they lose hope of victory like Sadat did and realize that Israel is here to stay then they will make peace.

Demilitarized means no standing army. Law enforcement agancies carrying weapons to keep the peace will be allowed to exist.

Glenn says it all. Excellent post!
