The issue is that European people were mostly white while Africans were black etc. Time has made the human race a giant mixing pot and we are made up of men from every ethnicity. What I believe and the Bible teaches is that ALL men were CREATED equal as is stated in our founding documents. Where atheism tends to spearate people into classifications, the Bible tells us that God made Adam and Eve and all of us have come from that first family.
