Comment on: Mike Moseley's View

With Obama as President, the south will rise again.

Good ideas from those we disagree with

It is hard to believe that anyone could have such a narrow view of the situation in America. The problem I have with people like Mr. Moseley is that they try to speak from a position of authority as though they are the only ones who can look at the country and assess what is going on and its significance. Their country view (or world view) is just that. Their view. That does not mean everyone else shares that view or agrees with their perspective.
Often if a person attempts to disagree, that person is labeled and trashed. Attempts are made to ridicule that person by making generalizations and name calling. The most negatively charged label is applied to that individual and an attempt is made to discount that person's opinion.
No one has the right to do anything but state an opinion. Each person has a right to have an opinion based on his or her education, experience and character. For instance, Moseley singles out Cris Matthews and Keith Olberman and labels them but praises Coulter, Krauthhammer etc. presumably because he agrees with their right wing extremist philosophies.
No one person can know everything. We all have a limited view since we don't have perfect omniscience. I have learned that my opinion remains static unless I listen to those who disagree with me. Moseley is one of those who can't get over the fact that Obama was elected President.
You will notice that Obama mentioned something in his speech to the joint houses of Congress and gave credit to John McCain who talked about that idea in his campaign. He said the idea is good now and McCain was right when he mentioned it during his campaign. How many good ideas can we adopt to help us if we only take the time to really listen to what those who disagree with us have to say.
