McCain is a hero...
I was proud last night, and am glad he finally spoke of the experience that shaped him. He gets it, you are right.
Congrats on your new blog! We have something in common!
Keep up the good job. We have a fight ahead, but with Mac and Palin, I think we can win!

I have to agree with you on the speech. At the beginning, I was sort of like, pep it up and by the end I was cheering from my sofa.
As for Obama, please tell me how he gets it? Hanging out with celebrities, being on the cover of magazines, writing books, doing nothing in Congress (apparently no one else really is), etc.
It is too bad these Presidential candidates hang out with the celebrities and think it gives them great credibility and it doesn't. I think we saw this with Kerry and Gore.
And as for Obama, what happened to "change?" I don't think of "change" and "hope" when I see Joe Biden!

re: McCain
Sue,
My concern is that the celebrity connection does matter to some people.. namely the younger voters. Obama and Kerry and the like are dangerously aware of this and I struggle to understand how my seemingly bright but left-leaning friends are capable of being seduced by this tactic. I have some close friends who love Dave Matthews and I am convinced that that man could sing about Felix the Cat and they would vote for Felix the Cat.
People who lean to the Right at a younger age tend to be more independent thinkers. That's my opinion anyway. We can see beyond the image and the pretty words. We care about the issues and tend to be more well-read about past events.
I couldn't agree with you more on the Joe Biden pick. Was it Guiliani who said that Obama was looking back while McCain was looking forward? Brilliant! Couldn't have said it better myself!
