Nancy believes that what is right for her is right for America. However, she is not finding the going as easy as she had envisioned. There are actually Blue Dog Democrats standing up to her.

Meanwhile, down in Louisiana, where the culture of corruption was invented, Democrats re-elected Congressman William Jefferson last Saturday despite the fact that Jefferson is under investigation on charges of soliciting and accepting bribes.

$90,000 in cold cash was found and confiscated in Jefferson's Washington apartment and his congressional office was raided by the FBI. When I say "cold cash" I mean cold cash. It was found in his freezer, wrapped in aluminum foil. The raid drew howls of protest from Democrats and Republicans alike, who realized that if it happened to Jefferson it could happen to them. One of the loudest howlers was Dennis Hastert (R - IL).

Ah, yes. bipartisanship on the hill.
