ATTENTION: A STATEMENT FROM N.O.W.

This is what they'll try to use...

as THE wedge issue. But it doesn't matter, IMO, because it's the Moderates, not the lefties who'll decide this election, and the hard core Liberal dogma doesn't reach all of them. Good post BG.

A Atatement from N O W

Great post.. What clarity of issue. How consistant and thoughtful N.O.W. once again shows itself to be on the forefront of...of um...well it shows itself to BE SOMETHING!!
Probably the clearest statement they have ever issued to show their real stripes LOLOL

Overplaying their hand

Things like this are going to sicken the "normal" Americans and drive the Obama team further into a hole. Implying that real women are pro choice, implying that conservative Black people are Uncle Toms, implying that special needs kids are throw away babies....the hysteria on the left will backfire

Just like attacking Palins daughter. Does anyone not know a teenager who has made a mistake in judgement? Does anyone really want to make an election about the kids of the candidates? This makes me sick.

Is this a joke?

Are you saying that women don't care about the life of an unborn baby?

nancy

i'm saying that NOW has a rather strange way of approaching a situation like the one presented with palin, who doesn't embrace their agenda. and so will many others on the left, causing something that one columnist has already referred to as PDS, palin derangement syndrome (i can check to see who that was, i don't remember offhand). you'd have to ask members of NOW to see if they care about the life of an unborn baby. and what an interesting discussion that would make.

beltway girl

Saw another of your posts and went back and reread your post - knew I made an error. Sorry

As you can see this whole Palin thing is getting me pretty fired up (is that a pun?)

BTW - PDS - probably heard about that from hotair.com

Take care

nancy, please, thank you

for reading it. nothing to apologize for, i mean, i'm thankful you read it. i honestly don't know who it was who came up with palin derangement syndrome, but it was on realclearpolitics today. and boy, if THAT shoe fits for some in the media, i cannot WAIT to see them wear it. you won't see any fellow reporters with a close-up on THAT shoe. this is in no way meant to be condescending, but i wouldn't get all bent out of shape over the vicious attacks on palin, only b/c by the end of the general, you'll have an ulcer.

i have been following gustav pretty much today, and am super-relieved that it's now down to a cat 1.

wil/uncle toms and the left

it's the truth. all about agenda, all about ideas. remember in the fall, dems, that this was the case.

to his credit, obama released a statement today blasting the palin items. unbelievable.

dave and kev

WHAT DO WE WANT?

N.O.W.!!

WHEN DO WE WANT IT?

NEVER!

NOW doesn't make sense. so, i'm just getting into the spirit of things.

oops, wil

uncle toms and the left. i'm saying i think you're completely right about what you said. anyone that doesn't buy into their package is crucified, "uncle tom," what have you.

the really creepy part to me about that saddbleback thing was when obama got on clarence thomas. rev. wright immediately came to mind.

The Left

has a real problem if anyone who is a nonwhite or female steps off their platform. They can dismiss white people as racist and men as sexist, but when an "oppressed" person pulls themselves out of the depths of whatever and succeeds without a government program, that is not ok.

good God

i'm even starting to confuse myself!!

again, wil, you're right

this is a travesty. do you know wright's back in the news? oh noooo...

poor clarence thomas. you know, the guy is the only african american on the supreme court. but he's getting dissed by a bunch of haters.

i may be confusing myself a little today (laughing), but i'll never be able to confuse myself one-tenth as much as the media likes to play a role in confusing the general public.

A STATEMENT FROM N.O.W.

An outstanding summary of all things Liberal and/or Progressive. My family is all from the People's Republic of Massachusetts and we had a "conversation" about various issues. I loved your post - it made me feel like I was back home with all the "Ted Kennedy Walked On Water" (after Chappaquiddick) Democrats up there. Thanks for clearing things up - OUTSTANDING! I need a drink now...

chad, i LOVE

massachusetts! i LOVE it. it's BEAUTIFUL, seriously.

it's so expensive, though. what i think goes on is... okay, say you live in a boston, or a chicago, or a new york city. well, you have cities like new orleans, with natural disadvantages, where living there is a risk to your survival. you've got other areas, you know, no mass transit, no water, for heaven's sakes, much less sports teams.

so more people in these high-cost-of-living areas are choking on their own guilt, while other americans are paying far less money to live in far less advantaged areas, where they don't feel the need to torture both themselves and those around them with mandatory self-loathing and misery.

That Pesky Experience Thing

Oh, yes; that pesky experience thing. I have heard the Democrat knuckleheads begin to harp already that, because Sarah Palin is now McCain’s choice for Vice-President running mate, somehow the voices of those re-iterating the total lack of experience of B.H.O.’s executive, leadership, and payroll responsibility have thrown from the table the ‘experience card.’ No, not even a little bit, I say.
Let me begin with stating B.H.O.’s chief executive experience. Including the not-for-profit work alongside convicted terrorist Bill Ayers as co-heads of the Annenburg Challenge in Chicago he has next to zero knowledge or skill. Not-for-profit means – for those illiterate folks too lazy to consult a dictionary – No Payroll Responsibility. B.H.O. has never been a Boy Scout (in fact, he supports the A.C.L.U.’s litigation of them). B.H.O. has only used the nations’ taxpayer dollars to give to his Chicago-machine, gangster styled friends.
Sarah Palin, by comparison, has successfully run a home, a PTA, a city and then a state government. One must agree with Kevin McCullough – an essayist writing for Townhall.com – that this experience is more than Obama, Biden, and Hillary combined! Mrs. Palin had to deal with international issues (Canadian and Russian), she commanded the Alaska National Guard, stood up to corruption in her own political party, refused Federal money earmarked for building a bridge-to-nowhere, and returned money to the people of the state from oil company tax revenue! This is the kind of change I want and believe in.

See you at the polls, you knucklehead!

slowpoke

yeah!!! good for you! i agree, this is insane. the left is truly watching someone improvising with their script, and you can see the sweat flying from their brows as their eyes bug out of their heads and frothy spit begins to gather on their lips.

you're totally right on with this. mrs. bill clinton was going to be our first woman president. but bill had provided her launching pad. feminism?

with sarah palin, it would be completely different. her husband, up to now a complete unknown to the national stage, could look forward to grabbing onto SARAH'S skirttails, should she end up veep and (then) our first woman president.

our first woman president could end up producing the First Gentleman, who could himself end up president (thanks to the trend set by Mr. and Mrs. Bill).

Now THAT'S feminism!!

look what the liberals have done to...

presidential elections.

the republicans: best person for the job

the democrats: SEE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS, MAYBE MORE, ARTICLES CONTAINED IN PUBLISHED JOURNALS; PERHAPS A MILLION DOCUMENTARIES AND/OR OTHER PIECES GENERATED BY ELECTRONIC MEDIA; CONSULT WITH THE FACULTY AT IVY LEAGUE UNIVERSITIES. then, you can vote.

beltway girl

massachusetts! i LOVE it. it's BEAUTIFUL

It is beautiful. I agree with everything your wrote - I live inf FL now! Go figure...

BG

Is that actually a NOW statement or are you doing tongue in cheek? You didn't attribute but it really doesn't matter since it makes as much sense anything I've heard from them in the last 35 years. Clear as mud!

How 'bout that Rev. Wright. Man, he is the gift that keeps on giving. This was the money quote I caught yesterday:

"This ordinary boy just might be the first president in the history of the United States to have a black woman sleeping at 1600 Pennsylvania, legally."

If I was Obama I'd strangle this guy. HaHaHa!

BTW Beltway Girl

I've a new post linking to the same from Garnet about the charges against Sarah Palin. You may find it interesting.

sarge, i saw that! i saw that...

the $$$$ shot/quote. this guy, he is... he is... he is nuts. you know, i was wondering if he was at the thing at mile-high ("the emperor has spoken"/this is spinal tap)? i'm surprised he didn't run across the stage naked...

look, i think it's clear this guy is now an undercover operative of the mccain campaign (laughing hysterically)... obama must be grinding his teeth in his sleep and having nightmares about wright and pfleger giving further endorsements.

NOW. another bunch. i knew NOW-type people at grad school, and they're one notch above a street gang...

beltwaygirl

Great point! Leftwing women would never be caught dead in a skirt!

And they talk about right to choose, but they don't like a woman to have the right to choose life!

N.O.W. and the leftwing dems are really looking bad...and I predict the attack on Palin's family, and Palin, a successful independent woman, is going to backfire...

sheila--

i really am delighted mccain went w/palin, too. and yes, we'll have our revenge on the left with this. totally agreed on the backlash. but i just saw the polls today, and i was horrified. i think obama has shot back up to eight in gallup, and i think six in rasmussen? not a good sign for this ticket, but i'm probably overreacting. the republican national convention has been kind of knocked out of the water, and we'll get to tune in today. but palin's bounce was awfully short-lived. it's a real worry. again, i may be overreacting?

beltway girl...

Wasn't John Heinz Kerry (who fought in Vietnam, btw) this high in the polls around this time in his campaign? He still tanked, and lost...

you know, sheila

in terms of post-convention, kerry didn't get any bounce. whether he had a lead anyway like this, though, (discounting the convention/lack of bounce) he may have. really interesting, i want to check that, if i can. if you find that, feel free to post it or send a link or something, b/c i'm freaked over the fact that obiden has bounced back up.

What a contrast in conventions!

I am proud to be in the Grand Old Party!

BG

You have just discovered the disconnect between the politically engaged, THer's, Kosovites etc., and the masses.

Shelia may right about a backlash if the media keeps up the drum beat to long since it goes against the American sense of fair play. That is also the reason Obama's European tour bombed as media bias became blatant.

The reality is that the mushy middle of the road, everyone is so enamored of, gets it's news from the MSM. And that is news because they say it's news. The same voters would forget this issue overnight if Paris or Britney did something outrageous.

New post at my place. Stop if you get a chance.
