My Ride With Carl

WOW, Arturick

This is an awesome insight you have shared here. My compliments to your willingness to consider another POV and ability to relate the incident!

Five Stars!

It's amazing

how things happen. Congrats on having clean enough ears to hear the truth when it came along.

What you and Carl discussed is going to be cap and trade if that goes through.

Keep on with your journey. Your 'friends' and fellow travelers here at TH will always be along to cheer you on.

Biz 101

My advanced college marketing classes were dominated by conservatives. The lefties bowed out early-on because they could not comprehend the simple facts of business that your friend Carl layed out so well.

Around the late 60's or early 70's there was a riot in Detroit over a rock bands performance.
Before tickets went on sale the lefties demanded that the concert should be free for 'the peeeple'.(gotta say that with a whine). The spokesman for the musicians pointed out that there were expenses, such as hall rental, transportation, security, etc. The concert was subsequently cancelled.
Most people do not understand the true meaning behind the saying 'there's no such thing a a free lunch.'

Good Post.

Thanks, As Always

Mrs. AL: It was just on of those experiences that stuck in my mind.

MD/MG: Yeah, I refer to cap and trade as the "usefulness tax." "This is useful! Make it more expensive!" "Journey" is definitely the right word. I pride myself on being smart enough to know that I've never reached the end of the intellectual road. Of course, plenty of liberals would say I'm close-minded, but that's because they always throw arguments at me that I've seen debunked a million times.

Third Eye: Yeah, I've noticed, in the course of working with the public, that those who most demand that things be cheap/free are those who make everything more expensive. It's like teenagers at the mall. Teens want to hang out in the mall all day for free, but are responsible for the vandalism, fistfights, and other nuisances that require an expensive security force tasked to chase out loitering teenagers.

GunnyG: Thanks. I'll try to keep up the good work.

Arturick

Good post. Better to learn late than not at all,eh?

I missed it...

But, this is the kind of thing that happens all the time. I was a total non-smart nerd in school and hung with the top 4 kids in my class. I always "knew" they were smarter than myself because they took AP classes.

Every one of them is left. And for the life of me, if you have ever taken a math class or econ, you should get it. They don't.
I'm glad you did.
