Great post CK!
Hopefully a lot of people read this series.
There are a lot of people who visit this site that have never read the Federalist papers, and it should be required reading for every Citizen.
Naturalized citizens actually know more about our history and civics than the homegrown variety, and that's just Sad.
Keep up the good work!

You are providing a valuable service in making more aware of the Federalist and its content. These writings have been shown to provide a very cogent analysis of the Constitution and the original intent of its writers. Phraseology, state of mind, the overall morals of that era are all, somewhere, explained in these articles.
If you want to know why Militia is mentioned in the 2nd Ammend, it's in there, etc.
Keep on keepin' on.

Hey CK
I feel like I struck paydirt here. I'm so far behind in reading blog posts and am trying to get caught up. Im printing out your Federalists Papers to read (and keep). Will read all of them, but may not come back to post comments due to time constraints. Haen't read these in a long long time and am looking forward to this "refresher course" you've been kind enough to provide for us. THANKS! Keep up the good work.

I have heard that naturalized citizens are more educated in our history as well. Really is a shame.
That's what Im hoping for really. My comments may be fun to read for some and nauseating for others, but I really want people to read the papers. Its like the index for the Constitution, with other tidbits.

Thanks for the comments! Exactly my thoughts on the Federalist papers.
Isn't in like 27 or something(in the 20's I think) with the militia? I know Ive read one of Hamilton's papers about the military. Just can't remember which exact one it was.

Another fine piece. Were the Founders' principles, and ideas still being used, the short answer would be we would NOT BE in this mess. The REASONS why we find our country at the precipice is people who think THEY are smarter than anyone else are trying to interpret plain English to suit THEIR view. Another area where Bush has been an UTTER disappointment.Obama don't look to be any better at following the tenets of the Constitution either.

The idea of common defense and restraning Congress' authority in that regard begins with #26 and is continued through #28.
#29 concerns the militia.
Bobbie,
Good reading to you. The 85 papers average 6-10 pages each, the entire collection is 500 pages+-, and well wort the time spent.

Exactly right. As soon as our elected officials get into office they think they are above the people. Pelosi is a great example of that. All the power has gone to her head and it is ruining the HoR.
