Paul Harvey made a few good movies, too
I join in your dignified acknowledgment of Paul Harvey. I enjoyed his unique treatment of each day's news; however, I also enjoyed his work as an actor.
My introduction to Paul Harvey was through his roles in Hollywood. He waqs quite pleasing as an actor in the 30's. Of course, at that time a pleasing voice was the first requirement with all of the features necessary to create the character required by the plot. His mastery of this now defunct quality in acting was equalled only by a few,i.e., Robert Taylor, Errol Flynn, John Barrymore and Ethel Barrymore. His voice utility equalled theirs.
I have always been curious about his changing to broadcasting. Though it was true that so many with great talent lived in that era, I was surprised when he opted for broadcasting. That usually implied that an actor had failed to compete. Anyone viewing one of his films will realize that he did not lack quality.
Sorry! I have not found his films among my 1,231 Classics. However, he is listed in Maltin's.
Thanks.

We were not worthy
I too grew up on a steady diet of news ala Paul Harvey. As I understood it he actually was a broadcaster first, beginning at the early age of 14. It saddens me deeply to hear anyone that has the gall to utter a disparaging word about him, There are no other human beings on the face of this planet that I have more respect and admiration for. Paul never had an unpleasant word for those who did not agree with him. I guess if some in the human race could put Jesus to death than there will be some to persecute Paul. I believe he died of a broken heart when he lost his beloved Angel.Paul, we will miss you dearly...... rest in peace. Respectfully yours, Karl
