Huckabee vs Romney

Thanks for the articles!
Thanks Cavelier!
I really enjoyed reading both of Byron York’s articles about Romney and Huckabee. I identified with York’s observations of each candidate.
Early on (April/May of 2007), I liked Romney after watching him on C-SPAN. That was until I saw his videos on You Tube vigorously defending a women's right to choose in the 2002 Massachusetts governor race. After that, he just seemed like a big fake to me.
Then, I first observed Huckabee during the Iowa Straw Poll also on C-SPAN. I have liked him then and still do because he does connect and inspire me. I like his stance on the issues, his style, and his ability to communicate.
Yet, I have to admit, he has also shown a penchant for gaffes – the confederate flag issue (which just seemed like South Carolina pandering), the constitution needs to be changed to align to the Word of God (which was so ill-advised even though his actual context was the Human Life Amendment), and most recently the Obama assassination ad-lib at NRA.
So Huckabee needs to acquire greater self-discipline and perhaps more time to mature. Overall, though, I think that York is right in his final conclusion – “But the bottom line is that he [Huckabee] is a dazzlingly talented politician in a party that is not exactly full of dazzlingly talented politicians. You’ll see him again.” Maybe 2012, maybe 2016, but we’ll see him again – much wiser and stronger and hopefully as the Republican nominee.
