STOP BIG PORCELAIN NOW!

What Porcelain Was Made For

Porcelain is now made to build the giant toilet that rational thought has unfortunately wound up in. Good Rant!

This is why I'm liking McCain. I think, in spite of a few faults, we get:

1) War on earmarks
2) free trade -- no isolationism
3) Drilling (but still no ANWR!)
4) Lower Corporate Tax
5) Optional Flat Tax

Oh, and that whole not pulling the rug out from under success in Iraq thing.

Yes, if you go through the older posts you will see I have been since his nomination a reluctant McCain supporter. I don't think he was even the best among our choices, but he is what we have now. Letting the Democrats win is suicide, and a vote for Barr is a vote for Obama, as is any third party vote.

McCain certainly has his faults, ANWR, environmental positions (though he is moderating), his stand on water boarding and Guantanamo, and obviously campaign finance. But he is right on the big things, and we have a hope of pushing him in the right direction.

Here are three posts on him, one recent and two older on McCain:

Glad to hear I am not alone in my thinking on McCain.

Oh, and if you despair here are a few posts on why I think McCain will win

To close, welcome to the blog, and thanks for the comment. Hope to hear from you again

Sorry

That one link never highlights right, let's try it again with the URL escape in it

That is the best argument I have for why McCain will win, at least my best recent one.

I made two arguments some time ago that still stand as well:

http://andrews.blogtownhall.com/2008/03/04/why_mccain_will_ win.thtml
http://andrews.blogtownhall.com/2008/04/03/time_for_mccain_ to_decorate_the_lincoln_bedroom.thtml

And one slightly more recent one asking why all the pundits claim Obama is sure to win:

Well, enough self-promotion. If you want to find more, there are plenty of places to look. Even a (mostly complete) topical index on the final page of my blog.

hehe

I wouldn't be too worried about conservatives tossing out big oil. I haven't heard any true conservatives do it really, at least not many. Your rant is on target for sure. Big business is what made this country great. Big Steel, Big oil, Big sugar. Why kill what made us great in the first place right?

CKHustler

I know. I am just getting sick of the "populist conservatives' who rant about "Big Oil" and tear into the free market and sound left of the Democrats. I am all for a big tent, but if we let this populist garbage nonsense into the conservative movement we have a tent so big it would encompass the entire voting public.

Reminds me of PJ O'Rourke's comment about the "wings" of the Democrat party stretching from Jesse Jackson to Loyd Bentsen and what a huge wingspan that is. Well, a tent that holds Reagan, McCain, Buchanan and Ron Paul dwarfs that massive wingspan. We could probably fit five or six such planes inside our big tent.

Oops

I am a lousy editor at the best of times and it is late.

So, when you see "garbage nonsense" pick one and ignore the other.

I thought garbage was a bit harsh and wanted to replace it with nonsense, but obviously the secret of deleting text escaped me and so we have both.

Pick your favorite, I suppose.

One last one

I know I said no more links, but there is one more I needed to add. It is mostly about Obama, but some McCain in it.

http://andrews.blogtownhall.com/2008/04/11/am_i_missing_som ething.thtml

And, though it is completely irrelevant, I like this post so much I push it every chance I get. I makes me smile, so I have to tell everyone to read it, even when it makes no sense to do so:

http://andrews.blogtownhall.com/2008/06/19/so,_whats_left.t html

It probably isn't going to amuse everyone as much as it does me, but I'm still pushing it anyway.

I Lied

One more link, from way back in early January.

I have to add it, as it is one of my earliest argument against those who want to "send a message" or think the party will benefit from time out of office.

http://andrews.blogtownhall.com/2008/01/08/jacob_frank_and_ hillary_clinton.thtml

I argued against this position in 2006, and still think it absurd. Fortunately, as more Republicans get to know the real Obama, I am hearing less of this sort of talk. At least Obama is good for something.

Andrews Re Big Porcelain

Thanks for the link. I have only been here since July 5th so I missed this. VEZRY GOOD I like it and good arguments. Yes Humor is a good way to get folk thinking with out putting them to sleep with too much deep words..Of course Obama flipflopped on Porcelain once he saw which way the polls were going and made a big sink - I mean big stink about windfall taxes on this industry

KevInFl

Yes, I did a more serious piece on Obama's vote buying we can believe in, using the windfall profits tax to pay off voters... I mean give them a rebate.

The whole windfall profits tax thing is a joke. Compare profit to equity for google, and then any oil company, and tell me that oil profits are "obscene". Or Starbucks. Or maybe any Hollywood production company.

Oil is just playing bourgeoisie to Obama's Stalin. (I would say "Playing Jew to Obama's Hitler", but people get touchy about that. Not he Jew part, hey, I'm allowed, just like rappers get to use the n-word, but comparing a Demcorat to Hitler is a big non-no.)
