Super Tuesday II - A Conservative "Cautionary Tale" for Senator McCain

Wrong analysis

There are a handful of republicans who "will never" vote for McCain. This percentage is not statistically significant enough to tip the election to the democrats. What you fail to mention is that many democrats say they can trust McCain as president, and that McCain attracts the broadest ranges of voters in terms of party affiliation. Considering that Nader will have his name on the ballot IN ALL STATES unlike last time when he was barred from some states, coupled with the fact that Hillary and Obama have "special challenges" based on race, gender, experience and ideology (too left and not center-left like Bill), McCain will make up for the INSIGNIFICANT % of republicans like Dr. Dobson who "would never" vote for him. I am glad some americans like myself live in the real world and not in some "holier than though" world of conservatism. This type of behavior will destroy the candidacy of any conservative candidate so these "special conservatives" who will never vote for McCain" can say goodbye to their values being represented in capital hill. Thank God for we the conservatives who look beyond "perfect agreement" to "strong agreement" when voting. The cautionary tale is for "conservatives" who tried but failed miserably to hold the republican nomination of John McCain (an american hero)hostage.

Wrong Again, Sarah

Sarah, you're confusing your passion for a moderate Republican for the facts of the matter.

When a million registered Republicans - from just four states - brave the elements to go out and vote for somebody they know can't and won't win, they are doing so for a powerful reason. They are sending a message.

That number is NOT statistically significant, and it's echoed across America. There are many real conservatives (read "Real Republicans" - not RINOs) who want McCain to give something more than one-time lip-service. Tonight, they sent the Senator a message: Prove your conversion to Conservatism is for real - make real commitments we can verify - and we'll be there for you.

They were sending a message - and McCain would be a fool to NOT listen. Your beliefs, Sarah, are your own; but they are beliefs, not facts. Facts are 1,000,000 Republican voters turned out to vote for a man they knew couldn't win - there was a reason! McCain got only 51% of the Republican vote in Texas (according to Fox) - that's not impressive for a man with no real competition.

IF McCain wants to win, he needs to first win back the conservatives. Your hopes that renegade Democrats will flock to McCain is a hope - not a fact - but it's a fact that a million conservative voters sent McCain a message tonight.

Will he hear that fact-based message, or will he listen to the counsel of "feeling" people like Sarah? We've got 8 months to find out.
